The information folder appears to have been mislaid, this would have been very useful for using the oven on the first night. Dominic did say he was contactable but we eventually worked it out. Our daughter had stayed a few weeks previously and it was missing then as well. If you are new to the area, make sure to take supplies with you on arrival, especially if arriving late, as there are no shops close by, there is a co-op about 10mins drive away. This did not detract from our stay though.

The barn was easy to find as we knew the area well and also our daughter had stayed there previously so was able to guide us as well. When we arrived, the barn was lovely and warm which was great as it was late evening and we appreciated the underfloor heating. The barn was well equipped, bed was comfortable and the walk in shower lovely. All in all a good stay, remote, but close to Oldham and our son and his family. There was tea, coffee and sugar, also cleaning supplies, a dishwasher, washing machine, iron and ironing board. Lovely location, nice and quiet, walks on the moors nearby.

Safety for children has been considered but this could be improved by adding a stair gate at the top of the stairs as I was constantly trying to keep my toddler away from the top. Also, attach the Malm drawers to the wall, these are notorious for falling on and injuring (or worse) small children. Nicely renovated but some quality furniture rather than the Ikea stuff would really set it off. (This didn’t affect the stay, just a thought). Also, scissors in the kitchen would be v helpful!

I travel to this area often and it is incredibly beautiful. This was my first time staying here. The property is located in a remote area but only a short distance from anything you might need. Unfortunately didn’t spend much time in the house or get to do any of the local walks but it was a lovely stay. The kitchen and bathroom are modern but not out of place in the conversion. Love that there was tea bags! Had everything we needed and it was a comfortable stay. It is very dark at night so managed to get an excellent sleep. It’s also very quiet, although the walls are quite thin so you can hear the people next door. This wasn’t a problem for me, I felt a bit more at ease being so remote but knowing there were people nearby!

Plan your route, it can be tricky to get to using your sat nav, once I found it every other day was easy.

Property had some areas that were pretty dirty, This wasn’t too much of an issue as the bedroom was very clean which is where i spent most of my time as i was out during the day. For specifics, wall as you walk in was filthy just needs a wipe down and it would make such a difference! The stairs were brown with dirt from shoes and there were dog hairs all over the sofa. Cups/ cutlery/ bowls etc were very dirty. I ran them all through the dishwasher however the tablet didn’t come out during the cycle, so this may have been the issue before which explains the dirty items. I’ve attached photos for reference but don’t let this put you off. It was an absolutely lovey home, cleaners just need a kick up the backside!

The beds were a little hard for us, and the bedrooms were a bit small. We were disappointed to find out we didn't have a bath. It's a shame the view out of the window wasn't better as it's in a beautiful location.

Although it's out of the host's control, unfortunately we had noisy/disrespectful neighbours on both sides. The property itself is in a lovely secluded area, but there are neighbours immediately next to you and unfortunately we were woken up at 2 AM by someone calling their dog, while the neighbours on the other side regularly had loud children playing. We had our windows open and often smelled cigarette smoke coming in.

Host was very friendly and welcoming. He went out of his way to help us and was clearly very sympathetic when there was a slight misunderstanding about our booking. There are lots of lovely walks around and you're really surrounded by nature. Thank you for making it dog-friendly! Our pooch Jack enjoyed his stay here and loved rolling around in the garden. :) The property itself is beautiful with lots of character, and is clean, cosy and renovated. We enjoyed staying a week here.
