Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomJust a comment really; the shower took a while to get the temperature set right, I felt guilty using too much water when I was trying to adjust it, but I got it right in the end.
Cosy comfortable bed; plenty of storage space for 'stuff'; Excellent when it came to catering for my gluten free needs. The Waverley has a lovely homely feel about it, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

United KingdomSlightly picky, but my shower was a struggle to get the temperature set and wasn't very powerful, perhaps for couples the room size could be a tad on the small size but as a solo stay it was fine.
Great location, connections to various areas around the island. Welcoming staff and a fantastic pub. Would definitely return!

United KingdomThe furniture in the room.
Breakfast was good and well presented. Staff very pleasant. Unsure about how things worked as description done very quickly. Room clean and spacious. Furniture rather old and difficult to shut drawers. Pub was shut on Monday although breakfast was served. We were told about this when we arrived. There was music on in a marquee on one night which was good.

United Kingdomthe moment we arrives in the accommodation, Tim warmly welcomed us and showed us our room. gave us a good orientation about the accommodation and even helped us to navigate the area. Very nice place and reasonable for its price. we miss the open mic, hope we could even join some other time. also, they allow us to check in early and leave of bags so we could roam around the place without hassle.

Good breakfast - extra marks for the fried slice! I needed to stay somewhere where I could easily catch either of the two 7 bus routes. The Waverley is handy for both bus stops.

United KingdomWe were given a very warm welcome by Rachel, and very pleasantly surprised when she offered us an upgrade of our room, which included a bath. Having walked a long section of the coast path, much of it extremely muddy, this was greatly appreciated. We decided to eat in the pub - extensive menu, a lot homemade, and we were not disappointed. Very reasonably priced, good portions and well presented. Pub food presented really well. Room was comfy and well catered for with plentiful supplies, including fresh milk for tea and coffee available. Great breakfast cooked to order, and nothing was too much trouble. We really enjoyed our stay, it was perfect for a one night stop over whilst walking the coast path. We will happily return. Thankyou very much Tim, Julie, Rachel and the rest of the team.

United KingdomA bit of traffic noise in the morning as close to a mini roundabout but it did not bother me.
Good location for the work I was doing and an excellent location if touring the Island as very close to Carisbroke castle and pretty much in the middle of the island. Victorian building with good size rooms, a quirky staircase and a nice bar with an open fire. Comfortable bed, loads of towels provided with spares always available, fresh milk in a fridge for guests, excellent home cooked food, good choice for breakfast and good coffee. Friendly, family run, wound happily go back for a holiday!

United KingdomWarm welcome from the staff, who couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Spotlessly clean rooms, delicious breakfast, excellent beer and homecooked food. Wish it was my local! This is an old traditional pub on a busy road, so there is some traffic noise and some of the furnishings are a little worn, but if you prefer character over a bland identikit hotel chain, then you won't go wrong staying at the Waverley Inn.

United KingdomThe shower. It was made well clear that the water pressure was not great so we weren't misinformed. However it is really old and it was a real struggle to get the valve to work switching from bath to shower. I didn't have the strength to do it at all, I had to call my husband each time which was frustrating. It was also difficult to get the temperature right. All in all we got clean, it was functional and bearable but it wasn't a pleasure after a long days walk.
Lovely stay, the host/pub landlord was very hospitable, nothing seemed like too much trouble and he was keen that we enjoyed our stay. we felt very welcome. The guest spaces were a bit quirky, a bit tired and old but clean and very well COVID proofed. It was our first stay anywhere since the pandemic began and we felt safe and protected in the accommodation. On arrival the room was cold but the stand alone heaters worked extremely well in the bedroom when we turned them up. The huge bathroom was a little difficult to keep warm though. We were doing a long distance walk so we were not dressed for anywhere fancy and there was potential for us to get wet and muddy, with this in mind the place was perfect, we would not have felt uncomfortable if we had turned up bedraggled as you would in a smart hotel. We are vegetarian and we felt very well catered for. They were very flexible when it came to the food. Also we left too early each morning to make breakfast so they made us sandwiches to take with us which we thought was a kind touch. The pub itself was old school. A 'proper pub' not a chain or even brewery owned. Nothing fancy pants or designed. Full of locals, dogs, laughter, food, beer, mismatched tables and a genuinely warm atmosphere created by a cross section of people. If you were on your own, you wouldn't be left lonely, someone would talk to you for sure.
