How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Climbing the stairs to our room
Attentive staff. We attended our sons wedding reception at the hotel. The day went really smoothly and the staff could not do enough. Very friendly, courteous and professional. The room although right at the top was clean and adequate for our needs. Breakfast was tasty with good options.

We were given a room on the 3rd floor. As there are no lifts in the hotel, and some of the stairs are quite steep, it became a bit of a chore going up to and down from our room. As the hotel did not appear to be particularly full, we wondered whether it was necessary to give us a room on that floor. Also, we did think that breakfast might have been included for the rate we were paying.
The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

No food, but I was allowed to order food in and the general manager brought me out a plate and cutlery to the bar area. Super friendly staff and very accommodating

For some strange policy there was no brush to clean the toilet.
Very pleasant hotel in the center of Dorchester. I was there for a conference and it fitted my needs perfectly. Very friendly staff, pleasant room, nice entrance lobby. Reasonable price.

Nothing. Our stay was memorable, relaxing and everything we wanted.
Hotel was clean, warm and cosy. Nicely decorated. Staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean tidy well organised. Although it is a big hotel we felt very cared for and it was cosy. The bar area was comfy and welcoming.

We were able to park our car but places are limited.

The room was quite warm and the old sash windows didn’t open ver wide or not at all.
It’s a lovely old building with lots of light and beautiful fixtures. I love the staircase and banister.

The room was at the top of three flights of steep stairs (no elevator) and quite small. The floor in the room and the bathroom creaked very loudly when you walked on them. There was no on-site parking available on the second night and I had to pay for street parking.
Location for the hotel is good, on a main street in the town and within walking distance of several restaurants and coffee shops. Hotel has free parking (if space available). Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Staff were lovely, kind and extremely helpful. The hotel is lovely. Great choices at breakfast. No restaurant in the evening, but you can bring back a takeaway to the hotel. The location is excellent.
