A great room and location run by a professional couple who both know how to do things right. Perfect view of the water. Fresh cookies were baked each day, and the poached eggs at breakfast (one of the choices) were prepared to perfection. If you want to go to St. Ives, this place is only a 5 minute walk from the center of everything.

Our room was very comfortable, a home away from home with thoughtful provision of everything we needed, plus fresh home-cooked biscuits, excellent breakfasts and lovely soap and moisturiser. And we enjoyed the fresh air on our balcony looking over the town.

On our arrival we were welcomed with the warmest of welcomes ... Treated on every day of our holiday like part of there family .. Exceptional detail made to there house and customer service . With a 5 star breakfast in the morning to homemade biscuits in our rooms .. Absolute joy to stay with you . Thanks so much for making our break very special 💗

There was nothing we didn't like

We were made to feel very welcome by Sheila and Neil. Our room (number 2) was beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. Breakfast was amazing with a good choice and nothing was too much trouble. We've never stayed at a B&B that was also someone's home so we were apprehensive about feeling intrusive but we needn't have worried as Sheila and Neil have the balance exactly right by being attentive hosts whilst allowing guests all the freedom and privacy they need. The option for car parking at the nearby rugby club was really handy and inexpensive.

What I loved most about this place was the attention to detail. Everything was good quality - from the breakfast, to the toiletries, to the towels and cookies/hot drinks in the room. These touches take a stay from being 'good' to 'a treat.' Neil and Sheila are total professionals - they know when to chat and when to give you space. The location is amazing - seconds from the beach. It's a really nice place.

I honestly can't rate West by Five highly enough. Myself and a friend stayed on Friday 3rd June 2022. Excellent communication from the start with info on the local area and great recommendations for places to eat. Unfortunately there is no parking at the guest house, but this was not a problem as we were provided with a voucher for a public carpark. This is within walking distance but Neil kindly gave us a lift back to the guest house. The room was very clean, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was very generous. We chose the home made granola with natural yogurt and fresh fruit, followed by smoked salmon and scrambled egg. It was delicious. The couple next to us had the cooked breakfast and also said it was very good. Neil and Sheila are exceptionally good hosts. You can feel that they love what they do. They were both friendly and polite (even when I suspect we were being nightmare guests) and nothing seemed too much trouble. The guest house feels like a home away from home. Our only regret is that we had only booked for one night. (The second place we booked was absolutely pants, but that's a story for another time...)

I was so impressed with the reviews beforehand hence why I chose this property for a 1 night stay in St Ives and it did not disappoint. Neil and Shiela were so welcoming and accommodating, from their great recommendations, delicious breakfast, home made biscuits in the room and their detailed email with everything we needed to know before coming. I cannot recommend this property more! I can’t wait to come back and stay again in this amazing room with a STUNNING view of Porthmeor Beach

There were no downsides to this stay we were very happy.

The welcome set the scene for a wonderful three nights. Neil and Sheila achieved the balance of discreet availability and a knowledgeable visitor information source. The room was of an exceptional standard of cleanliness with all the Covid measures taken yet still felt comfortable and with an easy atmosphere. The award winning breakfasts lived up to and exceeded expectations.

It’s so lovely when you meet people who are in the right profession. Neil and Sheila clearly enjoy what they do, and do it so well. The breakfasts were delicious and the stay was full of lovely little touches, like fresh home made biscuits in the room every day.

Who needs the Marriott when you have Neil and Sheila!? They are the most caring, friendly and all-around wonderful people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Not only did they make me feel extremely welcome, but they were also super accommodating to my work schedule - even going out of their way to help me late at night during my stay as part of the G7. Neil, Sheila - I'll be coming back again to enjoy your lovely home with my other half as soon as I can! THANK YOU!
