Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI honestly can't think of anything that could be bettered.
The house was stunning and steeped in history. It was set in beautiful gardens with woodland at the rear. Plenty of seating in the garden. Our hosts were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They were able to meet our dietary requirements (gluten free and dairy free) at breakfast. A very comfortable stay.

United KingdomOnly parking for two cars so we had to drop our stuff off and park down the lane in an overflow car park no issue for us but may be a consideration if walking is not your strong point also location on the island it right over to one side so you have to travel across the island to many attractions but the island is small so is easy doable a beautiful location and very very quiet
Lovely place to stay on the Isle of Wight beautiful setting local pub you can walk to for dinner everywhere else you would need a car rooms comfy breakfast is nice it’s continental so only cereal fruit yoghurt toast and lovely warm pastries plenty of it but no full English hosts are very friendly lots of information about where to go and what to do locally very close to the needles and freshwater bay

United Kingdom9.00 breakfast was a bit on the late side for us, since it meant that we couldn't catch the earlier buses out of Totland. Nothing else was a problem.
Breakfast was fine - not a cooked breakfast eater. Friendliness of the owners - and the red squirrels in the garden. Conveniently placed for doing the walking and sight-seeing we wanted to and catching the buses to get around the island (we don't have a car).

United KingdomThis building was previously an old religious institute and there are signs of it around the site. The building is lovely and the area is very peaceful. The room was spacious and clean with a good ensuite shower room with soap, shower gel and shampoo provided. Tea and coffee making facilities and bottles of water were supplied. These could be restocked as required from a supply kept for guest use. However, rooms were not serviced unless specifically requested. This seemed like a sensible option to me. The breakfast was continental so warm croissants, fruit and cereal. It was plentiful and I knew that this is what was on offer before arriving. However, I did miss a cooked breakfast which is always a nice treat when away from home. The hosts are lovely and friendly but not intrusive. They do have dogs but they keep them away from guests. I have a dog phobia but never felt worried that I would accidently bump into them. I did not even hear them and only saw them once in the car. The B&B is in located very close to Alum bay (The Needles) and Totland beach. However, due to the weather we did not visit the beach. It is also walking distance to Tennyson's house. Parking is available on the estate. The Isle of Wight is quite small so with a vehicle is was a 30 minute drive maximum to anywhere we wanted to go. Wifi is available but cellular reception was not great in the house, although this seemed to be an issue I had in several places around the island.

United KingdomLocking the bedroom door was a knack. Rough pot holed driveway. Heating more off than on in January. To me it had a slightly creepy gothic feel in the entrance hall. (Great if you like that kind of thing!) Very difficult to find at night by map without Sat Nav. (But owners helped by phone.) Car or bicycle essential as rather remote. Bedding provided too thin for winter. One night sombody was scratching on my door at 2am. (Hardly the owners fault.)
It is very good and very clean. Well maintained. Certainly an interesting, atmospheric Victorian building. Mike and Vicki are pleasant and chatty and friendly and helpful. Very rural "back of beyond" location. Plenty of hot water. Very very good shower. Single room was large and in very good condition. Good value.
