Continental breakfast was a bit mean, coffee was limited. Room was noisy overnight and early in the morning. Hot pipes ran through the room, so window had to be open all of the time

The locking mechanism on room doors means guests tend to slam them shut, which affected my sleep.

One slight niggle during this stay was the loss of power overnight. Luckily my wife always carries a torch which was fortunate as our bathroom had no windows. Early the next morning we were given another room so we could shower etc. So no real drama.

We have stayed here several times now, and we are happy with the service provided.

No staff on reception - even the "budget" hotels manage to provided a service of giving guests the key to their room when they arrive! The passing staff walking by were perfectly civil communicating the message that servicing hotel guests was unimportant but we thought we were paying for more than civility. Made worse by a notice in the room to obtain fresh milk from the unmanned reception (we found a supermarket). The hotel appears not to know it is in the hospitality business.

Selected the hotel because of its central location in the heart of Boston.

No bright main light in room only two lamps. One at bedside and one on work desk. Difficult to read in room or do any work at desk when it got dark.

Lovely ensuite room, good size. Comfortable bed. Very clean. Tasty breakfast, served quickly, nice and hot.

No lift for those guests on upper floors. My room was on first floor and I stumbled on the top step of one flight when carrying my bag to my room because the handrail stopped level with the step and threw me off balance. Fortunately I fell forward onto the half landing and not backward down the stairs. Shaken but not physically damaged. Further along, the handrail by a few downward steps was coming loose from the wall. Regret no comment report in room and reception staff were busy when I departed to make comments discreetly.

Breakfast was good and had wide choice of options. Bar early dinner also tasty and served swiftly as our group had an early evening function at St Boltoph’s. Hotel therefore most convenient for access.

Restaurant meals- tepid and Sunday roast beef was very chewy and hard to cut, also had to ask for updates on drinks orders more than once - gave up in the end (were refunded as non receipt at till, as never arrived although charged for). Shame as only negative rest of the stay was exceptional. Would definitely stay again but probably eat elsewhere.

Cleanliness, location, suite offered to us for our stay (very roomy)

The stairs! We did not realise there were so many to our room - room 206. No lift as an old building. One of us had breakfast and was slightly disappointed. [Breakfast is however, subjective. Friends of ours have stayed here a couple of times and thought the breakfast was superb.]

Car parking was good. Receptionist [Estee] was very nice, smiley and chatty. View of Boston Stump from our window was fabulous.

Evening meal was average, ordered the large fish and chips which was tiny, I’d have been in tears if I’d have gone with the smaller version! Then crumble to finish which was at best ok. Expensive drinks but not surprising for a bar in the centre of Boston.

Centrally located property with own restaurant, good sized, comfortable rooms. Loved the little booklet in the room detailing the history of the property. Excellent breakfast though evening meal a little disappointing.

You pay a premium for the extras that we’re missing this time. I have stayed at several of these hotels now this time no treats no slippers and no coffee machine so why pay the extra for the room we were very disappointed this time.

    Room was lovely and spacious.
