Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Lovely staff. Excellent food, and really excellent choice of wines , best I have had for a while but at reasonable prices. Views in summer would be amazing. Quiet village location. No breakfast available but 2-3 min walk to local shop/cafe, again really friendly, choice of vegetarian or traditional breakfast butties etc.

United KingdomThe location is incredible so beautiful and the pub food is really amazing! We drove for breakfast in the morning at a farm shop nearby called Wylands that does local produce breakfast. Bed was so comfy and I don’t think I’ve been in a bigger shower! On the Sunday we had the roast lunch at the White Hart which is amazing and made with local meat. 10/10

United KingdomThe room cost more than we would normally pay for a pub/hotel including breakfast so, although very nice, we thought it was not particularly good value for money. The road outside was pretty busy in the morning.
We needed somewhere to stay overnight near Battle and chose this pub because it looked nice and we could also get an evening meal on the premises . Our plans changed and we ended up arriving late and leaving early which meant that we had no direct contact with the staff although we telephoned and were sent clear instructions on how to access our room which was not large but immaculately clean.

United KingdomPity there was no breakfast - the restaurant menu looked very good and it is obviously a popular place, unfortunately we did not find the local café mentioned for providing a great breakfast, maybe next time, maybe a post code for the sat nav?
The location was very good, wonderful view from the back, room was very clean and recently refurbished to a very good standard, very comfortable bed - a great night's sleep, can't ask for much more

United KingdomA mini fridge with real milk would have been a lovely addition; great to have tea and coffee facilities, UHT spoils everything you put it in!
Nicely sized room with a very comfy bed. Friendly, helpful staff. Ideal for what we needed, which was literally a bed after a party. Easy access with code, so coming in late wasn't a problem. Didn't stay for breakfast, so can't pass judgement.

United KingdomWe paid £157 per night but there was no housekeeping for second night so the room was not made up and the toilet paper etc was not resupplied. Only got the instructions on how to get in at 11pm on the evening we were due to check in as the staff were very busy and hadn’t had time to reply to my query. Avoid the breakfast they recommend at the local cafe unless you have plenty of time. We waited an hour after placing our order and had to leave without having received any food as due at a wedding.
Excellent location and lovely room.

United KingdomWe were there for three nights, it might have been nice for someone to come in and change the bins/freshen up the room at some point. But that is not a big issue, they were very busy.
The view is amazing, the location could not be better. We couldn't get over it. The rooms are on the small side, but well furnished. Particularly want to call out the comfy bed with lovely sheets. It was very hot when we were there so it was great that every room had a fan. There was a little confusion with the rooms and the staff were nice enough to switch one of the chairs for a comfy chair, no fuss, which was massively appreciated.

United KingdomAs the White Hart is not open on a Monday & Tuesday we thought that, a small fridge in our room would have been a benefit to people staying over these days.
We stayed in the Turner Room for the views of the south-downs which were amazing. We also had a meal late on Sunday afternoon which was very good & the prices at the White Hart are reasonable. All staff were excellent as well. The White Hart does not do breakfast but the village shop/cafe does an excellent one which is a short walk away
