Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBe aware that there is live music on a Friday night. It was not a problem for us though.

United KingdomIt would’ve been nice to have water in the room. We asked downstairs at the bar and was given a jug to take up. The only table in the room could’ve been bigger, it has the coffee machine and hot drinks tray and a vanity mirror but it can do one or the other, it’s not big enough for both. When getting ready in the evening, the room lights are very cosy, but not great for drying your hair or doing make up. The mastic and tiles around the bath need a good bleaching .
Great location, if you have plans for the centre of Maldon. Lovely staff, especially Meg, who went out of her way to make sure we had a nice stay. Plenty of hot drinks choice in the room. Bed was clean and comfortable . Breakfast was good. Lovely view of the church from our window.

United KingdomUnfortunately, there was noise from the bar below but that is inevitable in a high street pub location.
Really cosy duvets! Tasty full English breakfast included. Our small dog was made very welcome by the friendly staff.

United KingdomI left my charger in the room, I know I definitely left it there because I had it ready to go. When I got home and phoned up to put it aside for me to collect it had miraculously gone missing... I know it was the cleaner. As a 'good will' they said they had a spare one for me to collect so I drove all the way back for them to give me a broken charger (more likely the lady's charger she had exchanged with mine) 😆 Anyway the room was lovely and clean and the breakfast was beautiful but the prices were too steep for me to dine in the pub for dinner.
Love the little extra touches in the room like the robes and the lovely handwash. The small radiator was perfect for keeping my room toastie. Loved the menu in the pub and the hot chocolate was to die for but the prices were a bit steep.

United KingdomThe room we stayed in has two creaky floorboards. We were a bit worried about disturbing others while walking around. However it was a stunning room and we had worked out which floorboards creaked so we had fun trying to avoid them. From the start of the boards it's the 7th and 9th floorboard starting from the door to the window. My son loved his stay. And I enjoyed myself too.
Honestly it was wonderful, the staff were lovely and kept my key for me so I didn't lose it while outside. My son loves to travel so I asked if they could write him a note as a keepsake and they successfully managed. It's now in the journal of his travels as is a polaroid of the white horse. Identical to the one he gave the staff. The staff were so warm and kind. It made his experience so enjoyable and we will definitely visit again.

United KingdomMusic from bar beneath my room. Light from outside street shone around curtains and floor boards were very creaky.
Shower was hot, plenty of fluffy white towels, toiletries, bath robes, tea/coffee with biscuits in room. Nicely decorated very comfortable bed. Free plentiful breakfast was welcoming. Very comfortable stay and would definitely stay again if needed accommodation in Maldon. Great value and comfort for price.

United KingdomSome of the hotel prices are a little high and don't include or have the facilities to offer a cooked breakfast. The amount of through traffic is quite busy on a Saturday. Not much live music to be found anywhere on a Saturday night in the bars. Well I couldn't find any.
The area is lovely, plenty of places to eat and drink during the day coffee shops, bars. Beautiful restaurants in the area and the food in them is wonderful. Promenade Park is just up the road where you can take a walk by the river, stop for a coffee or a bite to eat. There is plenty to enjoy in Maldon.
