Everything was great. Communication prior to the visit could have been improved as I had no reply to my attempt of contact regarding being late to check in, but luckily there was someone still available at reception when we got there, so it turned out OK.

The lodge was beautiful and in such a lovely location. It was clean and comfortable, and we had such a relaxing stay. The only thing that could have been better was the weather! We will definitely be returning.

The outside sitting area hadn't been covered up so all the cushions were soaked through and unusable.

A beautifully appointed lodge, great kitchen and open plan living area, all very clean and tastefully decorated. The hot tub was added a touch of luxury to our stay.

The drains smelt in the en-suite bathroom and so we tried to keep the door shut and only just the shower in there once. This is what wasn’t too inconvenient as we used the other shower which was more powerful anyway. On the first morning we had a power cut and was told it was because of the toaster, so we had to make sure most electric was turned off to use the toaster so it didn’t happen again. Luckily we had to only wait half an hour until the reception opened at 9.00 and someone was sent within another 10 minutes to fix it. We were lucky enough to have most evenings without rain but on the last night the rain was too heavy to use the hot tub- the hot tub area isn’t sheltered, it would have been nice to have maybe w gazebo or umbrella of some sort so we could still use it. The overall cleanliness was good but there were some dust on items we didn’t really have to touch if you looked close enough (furnishings/ decor/ signs) and there were some holes on the bed runner in the main bedroom and a few marks on the curtains in the. Twin room and some on the sofas / other areas which I guess are high-traffic areas. We stayed in November where the outside temperature was between 5-8 degrees in the day, we found the lodge was quite cold and we had to have the fire on almost all the time we were there as the radiators didn’t seem to warm the lodge. It would have been nice to have a little written manual on arrival with key details, as everything was sent online via our booking and it was a bit of a struggle at first because the signal was poor for our mobile internet and it we had to look around for the Wi-Fi password before we could get back online to double check things!

The lodge was tastefully decorated and it had everything we needed (except a high chair but luckily we brought our own) We chose this property because it had a hot tub and that didn’t disappoint. The location was good for us because we wanted it to feel like an escape but also within a short driving distance from York itself (it was around 40minutes) it had a Lidl a short 5minute drive away which was perfect to grab a couple of bits we’d forgotten. It wasn’t too quiet for us which was good as we didn’t want to feel too secluded, in the evenings and we could hear others enjoying their stay in their hot tubs but we couldn’t see anyone and the noise was distant enough to not affect our time.

The shower in the main bathroom was too hot. the coldest setting was still at burning point and we could not use it having to use the shower in the main bedroom instead. I would say this needs checking out as it could cause burns to the skin.

You can't change the hot tub temperature yourself. The veranda faces a car parking area.

Lovely peaceful site. The lodge is beautiful! Very spacious and the facilities are perfect. Washing machine and dishwasher if you need them, and there's a drinks fridge in the kitchen as well. The hot tub is lovely although you can't change the temperature yourself, one night it was too hot and the next was too cool.

The only thing I would change is a slightly later check out time. I later discovered you can pay for a later check out time but this wasn’t an option when I booked.

The site is absolutely lovely and the staff at the restaurant were great. The food was also really good, my partner ordered the Teriyaki ribs and absolutely loved them. The lodge itself is amazing, this is the second time we have stayed and we will be staying again.

the lodge seemed to warm all the time , maybe some fans or air con might be a good idea , and couldn’t seem to get the main shower to stay a stable temperature , kept going very hot at times during showering
