Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOutside could do with a lick of paint and the swimming pool / changing rooms need a bit of TLC, but facilities good and staff wonderful
The staff was amazing, attention to detail, food was incredible too. Slightly on the expensive side, BUT well worth it. Room was very large too, and bathroom was lovely and big, very clean. Would definitely go back.

United KingdomFor some reason most of the lampshades and photo frames through the hotel weren’t straight, nothing major to complain about, but a bit bizarre which set of my OCD The mattress was too soft for me personally. Very creeky bed Not enough bed loungers in spa
We enjoyed the views of the river from the window, could even see the waterfall. Friendly staff Huge selection for breakfast, proper sausages and bacon not the cheap poverty ones Restaurant food was really I nice, the duck was amazing Spa facilities, the sauna and steam room where boiling

United KingdomI didn't like that breakfast wasn't included in the price. I only found this out after I had paid the non-refundable booking payment in full. For the price paid I would have expected breakfast also. The rooms are also in need of updating. The carpet was a little dirty and the paint was due a refresh. Although we did stay with our clean toy poodle and we were allocated a 'pet friendly' room which may excuse the state of the carpet somewhat but I didn't feel comfortable walking around the room without wearing footwear. Also one of the bed mattresses was too long for the bed base and was hung over the bottom of the bed. This wasn't expected for the price paid although the welcoming with our pet, friendliness of the staff and high quality of the restaurant food made up for this somewhat. If breakfast was included in the price I would probably have overlooked these minor points and left a higher rating.
The location is idyllic on the river. The staff couldn't be friendlier or more welcoming. The food was excellent including Christmas day dinner and the spa facilities were very good. Pet friendly too! Overall we had a great stay.

United KingdomThe water in the hot water tap in the bathroom was too hot - couldn’t hold your hands underneath. The water in the swimming pool was too cold so we only stayed in the pool for a few minutes only.
Jenny in reception was very friendly, helpful and cheerful. I spoke to her on the phone before our stay and she lived up to my expectations. The hotel is lucky to have her. All the staff were friendly. Compliments to Chef Abel. We had a side dish of chips and they were the best chips we have eaten.

United KingdomChoice of dinner could have been better. There was little middle choice if you didn’t want burger or fish and chips or steak. As it was winter perhaps pies or casseroles would be well received. The lounge bar lacked atmosphere and sofas and chairs maybe should be upgraded to provide a more homely and comfortable place to sit. The rooms are a little dated, but adequate for a few nights stay. The hotel pool was cold but facilities generally were good.
Breakfast was great. We upgraded our room, which was a very good size. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There was everything you could need in the room, even an iron and ironing board. Leisure facilities were good. We would stay again.

United KingdomThe furniture was a little bit manky and dated in the room. The bed could have been a bit more comfortable but wasn't bad. Our main gripe was that our room overlooked the entrance to the hotel and was noisy and annoying when staff and guests went outside for cigarette breaks. The window didn't close completely and wasn't well sound proofed. A little overpriced but all hotels are at the moment. We didn't have time to use the pool, which is a shame, as would have felt better value for money if we had. Also it may be cheaper to book in advance, we booked at very short notice and were lucky to get a room at all as all other hotels were fully booked.
Beautiful Hotel with character. Friendly and helpful staff both on the phone and in person. Window opened. Great Location. Would book again and this time use the pool.

United KingdomIt was unfortunate that the Spa facilities were closed 2 hours earlier than advertised in the evening and not open at all the following morning due to lack of staff. Heavy snow prevented them getting to work. This probably also accounted for breakfast service staff rushed off their feet and resultant delays in service. I wouldn't count this as a bad mark towards hotel as it couldn't be helped.
Quick easy check in. Decent spa facilities. Comfortable room and friendly staff. The lady who was ticking off breakfast arrivals and serving deserves a mention as it seemed she had to work the whole room relatively single handed.

United KingdomEven though it said no kids under 14 years allowed in the spa pool there were families with the kids (ages 4 - 10 years) shouting, splashing and jumping in the pool which made it impossible to relax. No action was taken by the staff. Therefore we tried going the next morning but there was another thing: Radio playing in the background with all the popular dance hits in the spa pool, It wasn't loud but, really? Considering where we were, ambient / relax / chill music or NO MUSIC at all would be so much better than radio hits at 8am. Very uncomfortable pillows. After 2 nights only we had sore neck and bad shoulders.
Good location with a beautiful view of the river, nice soundproof building with some stone touched walls in the rooms.

United KingdomThe staff were unhelpful at breakfast and didn't allow any space. Staring at us and making lots of eye contact whilst we were eating breakfast. The 'manager' of the staff was rude to them which is not nice to hear.
Beautiful venue rooms and leisure centre. Although the rooms had an older feel to them the bathroom was freshly renovated and everything was clean and comfy. The leisure centre was amazing and quiet, there were good options for breakfast.
