Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing really. You'd have to expect a lot for your money to be anything other than completely satisfied. The hotel is clean, quiet and friendly. What more could you want?
We loved this quirky little hotel. Rob and Carol are warm, friendly, lovely people, the breakfast was excellent and the facilities superb given the price we paid. We'll be going back for sure. Location is perfect and only a short walk from the seafront / food / wine. The hotel is situated in a residential area that's quiet, safe and comfortable.

United KingdomWe really enjoyed our stay here! The hotel is so charming, and the proprietors were welcoming and sincere. They were able to accommodate us for breakfast despite us not pre-booking it, and it was one of the best B&B breakfasts I've ever had.

United KingdomOnly a slight niggle but my room was initially a bit cold as the temperature had dropped since the August heatwave this year. However this was rectified immediately with the hosts giving me a fan heater to warm the room up when needed. Also for some reason the TV in my room had just a few BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 HD channels plus a few others (11 in all) and I don’t know whether somebody had previously altered the number of Freeview channels on the TV so that there were just a limited number of channels available to view. I didn’t mention this to the hosts because I thought it might require them to radically change the channel setup on the TV which wasn’t majorly important as things stood.
The hosts Carol and Rob were excellent and were very proactive with any small problems that arose during our stay. The breakfasts were delicious and I felt Carol and Rob always went that extra mile to be helpful during the holiday including very kindly picking us up from the station when we arrived and dropping us off back at the station at the end of our holiday.

United KingdomWe didn't know to pre-book breakfast as this wasn't mentioned at check in, we read it in the room guide when we got home from the local pub at 11pm! We got breakfast out so it wasn't an issue, and made sure to pre-book for the other two mornings.
We stayed for 3 nights over the Jubilee bank holiday weekend which coincided with our wedding anniversary. The hotel has a unique style and Carol and Rob have made a bespoke place to stay – no blandness of basic white linen here. Would go as far to say it’s the best hotel in Sandown. The rooms are all currently on the first floor and ours had a kettle and water cooler plus mini fridge. I understand some ground floor rooms are planned. Tea, coffee, hot choc and biscuits are available on the landing so you can top up when necessary. Carol and Rob were very helpful with recommendations of places to eat and visit all over the island. We only ate breakfast twice at the hotel as didn’t realise we needed to pre-book the night before, and settle up on leaving (it’s a room-only rate with breakfast as extra). This wasn’t an issue for us but might be for others who expect a breakfast. The hotel offers tapas in the bar area of an evening, again, pre-booking required. We didn’t partake as ate whilst out and about, but it looked and smelt great. It’s a brave thing to take on the challenge of running a business like this and the timing for Carol and Rob has been challenging, but I admire their tenacity and vision and wish them every success.
