Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo room service, but we’re tidy and are able to make our own bed. The rooms aren’t sound proofed, l did read this in a previous review & you can hear your neighbours in their room talking.
Food was good we ate both nights, although staff a bit overwhelmed with the restaurant being busy. Our waitress was very pleasant and apologise for the wait, we weren’t in a rush though.

United KingdomGeneral observation in most hotels is that there are never enough ‘normal’ teabags! The ratio of Earl Grey to regular tea meant we had to ask for extra teabags daily. Drinks were very expensive and had the worst Aperol Spritz I’ve ever tasted - measures all wrong. Was pretty much just soda water, which is disappointing for just shy of £10! And very odd to serve a Hendricks with a raspberry garnish I thought!
Stayed at the property to attend a wedding. Lovely wedding venue. Room was spacious, well stocked hot drinks tray including fresh coffee and chocolate! Comfortable bed. Breakfast was great. Hotel full of character. Staff were friendly and helpful.

United KingdomShort staffed in the restaurant. Food was good but seemed to have been standing under the pass and had dried out somewhat. Unable to regulate the temperature in the bedroom and the towel rail in the bathroom was ridiculously hot to the extent of being a hazard.
Stylish and chic.

United KingdomThe two separate bars charge different prices for drinks, understand there separate. Also I had £50 taken from account on arrival as deposit. However on booking.com it says £1, luckily I had enough money for the remainder of the stay.

United KingdomRoom a but to shabby chic. Ceiling looked like it was in the process of being redone but have a feeling it was meant to look like that with rough lats on the ceiling. But overpriced for one night.

United KingdomIt was a bit dark in our room (but the dark decor was lovely so I didn't mind it!) The shower was a but temperamental and took a while to respond to me adjusting it to be hotter/colder, but it's an old fashioned style shower, in keeping with the decor, so just need to be patient.
The rooms and decor were beautiful and spacious. Great selection of tea/coffee and snacks in the room. Dressing gowns for use. We stayed for a wedding so ideal for that. Breakfast was lovely too. All of the food and drinks for the wedding were great also.

United KingdomRoom stayed in on the first night was very very dark room 22, the light over the mirrors were not bright enough , had to put my make up in in the window with a compact mirror , My neice fell off a damaged chair in the bar, the legs came off the chair, Megan the member of staff asked if she was ok , apologised , and took the damaged chair away , that was it, I would have though some sort of guesture of goodwill would have been appropriate, The price of drinks were diffrent in the bar to the bar were the wedding was WHY? You expect to pay a higher price at a wedding but the price of drinks left a sour taste , £4.90 for a morretti in the bar £7.20 in the bar were the wedding was Would have expected a full length mirror in room 2
Was there for a wedding and the venue was excellent , Stayed in 2 rooms , room 2 was excellent Friendly staff Temple spar Toiletries

United KingdomThe noise! Granted, we were emailed in advance about there being a wedding on the day we were staying but I may have underestimated how noisy weddings can be! Not the venues fault as they did email like I said, more a lack of research on my part for not realising it was a wedding venue.
The staff at this property are exemplary! They were all extremely friendly and very helpful!

United KingdomI felt that the bar staff in the wedding reception area could have been a bit more friendly/interactive with me as a customer.
Breakfast was excellent - plenty of choices. We also had dinner and that, too, was well presented and extremely good. Water pressure in the ensuite was really good. We had stayed at this hotel under previous owners many years ago when it was definitely needing attention. It was great to see that it had been upgraded and is now fit for purpose.
