Super breakfast. Very comfortable large bed. Very tastefully decorated bedroom in keeping with the style of this grand house. Staff at breakfast very pleasant and a friendly welcome on arrival too.

The beautiful hotel building in a lovely location has an unfinished metal building frame next to it which looks like it has been there a while, spoiling the view from some windows. The hot drinks at breakfast are served from flasks so they get cold quickly (only downside of an otherwise excellent breakfast).

Lovely big room with lots of storage space, comfortable, enormous bed and a modern bathroom with two sinks, which helped two people get ready for the day at the same time. Breakfast was great - lovely cooked food, good choice of cereal. Dinner was excellent and seemed to be very good value when compared to a pub meal we had another night. All staff were very friendly and helpful, going out of their way to make sure you had everything you needed. Location was very scenic and also convenient for Dumfries, and there were some lovely walks close by which, if we'd had more time, we would have liked to explore. Good, well-placed car park. Easy drop-off at the front door.

The rooms are quite large well furnished with a very comfortable bed.Very good food reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly and attentive, similar price as a Premier inn but in a higher league altogether. Would definitely recommend.

The shower was the only negative. The head was covered in limescale, the shower valve seemed temperamental and the shower screen leaked. Personally I would've liked the choice of firmer pillows as they are very soft.

Room was big and spacious and the grounds were beautiful (minus the incomplete extension). Very quiet and peaceful through the night. The staff were lovely, friendly and welcoming. Would return for their hospitality alone.

Beautiful building although decor/ furnishings a little dated. / tired Warm welcome on arrival, confy bed, lovely bathroom. Good breakfast. Welcome in bar on our evening return. Would definitely stay again if in area.

Banqueting chairs are used which do not "glide" on the carpeted floors. The radio is constantly on and played out of speakers in all dining rooms. Not too appropriate during the afternoon tea and coffee when 16 people try to have a conversation. Neither was the choice of music/radio channel particularly pleasant.

We had Breakfast each day and dinned once. On all occasions was the food and beverages well prepared and tasty. The service was friendly and efficient. We also arranged for a tea and coffee afternoon with sandwiches and sausage rolls for a gathering after a funeral service and it was the best location to do soo. The room was nicely prepared. There again the sandwiches and sausage rolls were tasty but the homemade shortbread stole the show.

We had to search for someone when we wanted to check out. There is a large steel frame work (presumably unfinished very big extension) next to the hotel which has obviously been there for some time, which spoils the look of the attractive hotel.

Satisfactory choice for both meals. Dinner good value. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We were only there for one night, but would have been happy to stay longer.

The bed was great because it was large but it was a bit too hard for me! I know everyone is different and it's hard to get it right for all. That was the only negative point for me.

It's a lovely large house hotel, well presented set off the road in large grounds. Everyone there is helpful and very pleasant. Our room was large with a large bed. We had dinner and breakfast which we enjoyed. I would recommend this hotel and I know we'll be back at some point (we visit Dumfries regularly).

ALL ASPECTS OF THIS HOTEL WERE EXCELLENT. THE STAFF WERE PARTICULARLY GOOD WITH A FIRM FOCUS ON THE CUSTOMER HAVING A GREAT EXPERIENCE. SUPER COMFY BEDS. CAR PARKING WELL LIT AND SAFE.

There is a partially built building at the side of the hotel that looks like it hasn't been worked on for some time. It's a bit of an eyesore given the grand old building and surrounding grounds of the hotel.

A very large, old building, so there were some areas which looked a bit tired and waiting to be updated. However these were minimal and on the whole didn’t distract us from hugely enjoying our stay.
