How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The kettle in the room was unclean inside, however everything else was perfect cleanliness wise.

No swimming pool.
We liked how close the hotel was to the Wookey Hole attraction. Nice evening meal in the restaurant.

Didn’t refresh tea and coffee when staying 2 nights, could do with having someone checking the maintenance refreshing little bits and pieces looking a little tired and dirty in places. When this hotel opened I imagine it was beautiful with all its touches to the WOOKEYHOLE just needs refreshing in areas.
Liked the little touches to Wookey hole witches on the curtains and chair. Good value for money, very close to Wookey hole which my daughter enjoyed very much. Breakfast had a good choice at a reasonable price didn’t eat dinner so couldn’t comment.

The soft play access in the evening being removed. One of the reasons we go there so might have to go somewhere else in future

Nothing really, but just a few more additions to the breakfast table would be good…such as cut fruit or fruit salad.
Just a nice alternative from a Premier Inn. Huge car park, nice walks nearby, wildlife, decent rooms and a new games room.

Some items included in the cooked breakfast felt like they were kept warm under a heat lamp i e sausages, bacon, tomatoes
The hotel location was central for all the places we wanted to visit. It is a short walk to Wookey Hole. All staff are helpful and friendly. Free car parking. The bedroom was a good size. There was a good choice at breakfast. Price for the night was reasonable and included breakfast. We would definitely stay there again when in the area.

Restaurant very convenient: staff there helpful and pleasant. Menu could be more varied and flexible. Very little provision for anyone with a dairy intolerance or for vegans. Also watch out for being buried in chips
Staff exceptionally cheerful and helpful; Good extensive parking at this time of the year; very attractive location as long as you are not put off by all the Wookey Hole caves razzmatazz right next to the hotel. no problem with noise - just the visuals. Also you need to be prepared to drive along narrow roads for access

Bedroom was dated and waiting for an upgrade. Shower not the best.
Very nice, helpful staff. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast choice and lovely quiet location. Free parking. Good sleep. Lovely walks straight from the door. Free upgrade to a bigger room as I had booked a twin room and decided on a double room. Cheerful staff.

Property tired, needs a revamp. Would have been nice to have a lounge area in the bar rather than the restaurant, but difficult to see how you could accommodate this in view of the limited space.

Basic and functional. No soap, shampoo etc in bathroom. Not enough tea and coffee sachets. No tea options other than builders tea. Having to book a time slot for breakfast. No working extractor fan in bathroom. Only whole fruit at breakfast, I like melon, grapefruit segments.
Fantastic view. Evening meals available. Great location for Wells. Lovely balcony.

Can’t complain about anything. Top marks. Can’t think of anything negative to say at all.
Lovely room, comfy bed and a good choice for breakfast. Staff all friendly and a great hotel for visiting Wookey Hole cave. Will definitely stay again and explore more of the area.

No water to drink. No shower gel or shampoo and shower head could have used a clean.

I booked my holiday via booking.com and there were some issues. When I contacted the hotel they were not very helpful in rectifying the issue as they said I need to contact booking.com. When I contacted booking.com they said to talk to the hotel so it was frustrating as both parties should be more approachable

Rooms could do with refurbishing.
Been before only booked again to see the circus of horrors. Breakfast was good. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel rooms could do with upgrading. But perfect for the seeing the show.
