Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomUnfortunately our room was above the bin storage area, didn’t like being woken up at 5.45 by dragging of bins to and fro for nearly an hour!
The room was lovely. We had an evening meal in the restaurant with our daughter and her family which was very good and breakfast the next morning was delicious too!

SwedenUpstairs somewhat old and poorly maintained. Access to our room uncomfortable - through a maze of stairs and corridors with no lift. The room was unbearably hot - although all the appliances were shut down, a large diameter very hot heating pipe ran through the bathroom and along two walls of the bedroom. The sash window could only be opened a few centimetres, not enough to let the heat escape! The shower control was broken, allowing the choice only of extremely cold water or unbearably hot water.
The location, bar and restaurant

United KingdomThe one, very big, downside to the stay was the fact my room was like a sauna. It wasn't a warm night so goodness knows what temperature it reaches in summer! I obviously opened the window as wide as it would go and slept without sheets or duvet. My sleep score on fitbit was the lowest in months.
Nice hotel with well designed dining/breakfast and bar area with plenty of space and light. The rooms are colourfully decorated and are much more tasteful than they appear on the photos!

United KingdomAlmost certainly a one off but as the establishment appeared to be unaware of the issue until we flagged it it gets a mention. The window in the bedroom needs new sash cords; it would not stay open without being wedged with some of the books that were probably intended only to be decorative. We enjoyed the irony: an ancient copy of Great Expectations was what it took to meet our not so great expectation that we might be able to regulate the environment in the room. What the dickens..?!
Decent bar, excellent restaurant and a lovely room, all contained in a quirky building with stacks of history. Lots of nice individual touches around the place made this feel a million miles away from a typical "chain" hotel. Attentive staff who genuinely seemed to want to make everything is comfortable as possible were the icing on the cake. We had a really pleasant stay.

We love the location of the Wynnstay and its lovely lawned inner garden. The staff are vert attentive and professional. We love the interior design and cleanliness of the place. Putting chocolate treats in the rooms demonstrates how the enjoyment of guests is really thought about. Lovely standard of food at breakfast and dinner.

New ZealandHad a few issues with the shower mixer not working and shower head wouldn’t stay up. One of the Saturday evening bar staff was a bit rude and charged us for a couple of large measures as I only ordered single drinks. I didn’t check receipt until I got back to our room.
Beautiful old building with lovely rooms. Great breakfast and most of the staff were friendly.

United KingdomThe pub next door to the hotel has a beer garden, to be fair the noise is not excessive and stops at 11:30pm but it is a little disturbing and makes it difficult to go to sleep unless you have the TV on to mask the sound.
The room was very comfortable and clean and had everything we needed. Slept extremely well. Breakfast was excellent, good quality ingredients.
