How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The only thing was sharing a bathroom, but as it goes I was sharing it with another woman, so that was fine, & we both needed to use it at different times.
The breakfast was lovely as I could choose to have a small cooked breakfast which was cooked just right. The staff were very helpful & very pleasant to talk to. I’d definitely stay there again 👍

Lacking in a few amenities, hair drier, face towel. Lock on bathroom door a bit poor with strange draining in bathroom, bubbling sometimes, and we each had to stop mid shower once. Could do with some coat hooks in the room. Maybe a mini fridge? But that may be OTT! The family room is a bit packed and the TV is rather small, not really a room to relax in but good if you're planning plenty of outings
Owners were lovely and the mornings breakfast was great! Classic fry up or cereals available. Beds and mattresses were comfy, regular cleaning and restocking happened during the day so never short of fresh towels or coffee. Quiet and soft carpets, so we didn't hear anyone else moving (apart from the stairs to the owners suite up top, but that only happened in the daytime) Very well placed for station, town and buses.

There was no option to book a cheaper room. I would have been happy with a cheaper and smaller room option

There were no hand towels in the bathroom, each got a bath towel but would have appreciated a handtowel to dry our hands.
The beds were very comfy and we had a nice view from the windows. The breakfast was delicious and we loved the shower. We would definitely come back.

This part of the review is redundant. I was very happy with my stay.
Friendly staff, comfortable beds, and an excellent price. The breakfast was good and took very little time to prepare. I had parking. It was easy to find. Phenomenal shower pressure. I asked for an iron and one was given. I couldn't be happier. If I ever need to stay in or near Bangor again I won't bother comparing my options, I'll just book Y Garth if it's available. Other places were twice the price of Y Garth, and I guarantee that I wouldn't have found friendlier people or better accommodation at that price than I did here.

Bathroom extractor fan next door to bedroom 7 was very noisy and is triggered for 20 minutes every time someone turns on the light, meaning it's going almost non stop. Nobody remembers to turn off the light. Could do with a silent one. I think you also need to replace the TV remote, discovered late at night it wouldn't operate the tv

Breakfast was lovely and they also catered for my gluten free daughter. Location was perfect and very close to bangor University that we were visiting. Hosts were very friendly and helpful.

The couple running the B&B were very friendly and helpful, location is a short walk to the town and University. Breakfast was lovely. Parking was available as well.

Super lovely and accommodating hosts, great vegan breakfast, spotless room and bathroom. Loved that the tea and coffee in the room was fairtrade too. Diolch yn fawr!

Very friendly and welcoming. I was travelling alone with two young children so I wanted somewhere family friendly where I would feel safe and comfortable and this place was perfect. Everyone was so welcoming and they were really good with my children. Great place.
