Bathroom door wouldn't latch and the toilet seat was really loose. Glasses in the room were dirty.

Location is great and the little town was beautiful. Staff at breakfast were wonderful and the breakfast was really good and substantial.

This is an old building and comes with steep narrow stairs, quirky bathroom layouts and eccentric plumbing. Our room was two floors up which could be a problem for those with mobility problems so I would advise checking before booking.

Location was great, right in the middle of Castleton which was really buzzing as it was a bank holiday weekend. Staff were really friendly and helpful despite it being so busy. Brilliant and generous breakfast included in the rate with lots of choice, the best eggs royale! Plus they serve it until 11 am and they’re open to the public for it so you don’t have to stay there to get it. We also ate dinner there on a couple of nights and that was lovely too.

The room was dated however they are having a refurb so that room hopefully will be updated soon .

The room was basic but clean and served as a great base for our stay. The food was outstanding! We ate in the bar in the evening and had breakfast in the restaurant the next morning - absolutely gorgeous food, can't recommend it enough. Excellent value too.

The bed mattress needs to be replaced. It is past its used by date.

Oldest pub in town - lots of history here. If only the walls could talk. The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated. Large bathroom. Our room overlooked the town street. Free parking around the corner. Good dinner and drink selections at the pub - get in early for a table. Excellent breakfast in the attached restaurant. Very friendly staff.

Our room window overlooked an old graveyard. Room was extremely hot, as the towel warmer in the bathroom was cranked up high, making the bathroom like a sauna. If we opened the bathroom door, it heated the whole room. Window wouldn’t stay open, so we had to prop it open using a water bottle.

Twin beds were a tiny bit short for a taller guest

We stayed one night at the end of a walking trip and found the accommodation very comfortable and perfect for our needs. Being over the pub means you can pop down for food and drink and stumble up to bed, which was great.

Decor and fittings a little dated but a refurb is on the cards.....just an aesthetic thing , no problem in terms of comfort

Central location, easy, convenient parking, cosy room with a comfy bed, spacious bathroom with a good shower, lovely views of the hills, hearty breakfast served efficiently and very helpfully ....room a little tired decoratively but very well served with tea and coffee facilities and a nice little bottle of wine on arrival.Good value and a happy stay.

A few more plant based options like something other than butter and soya milk that doesn't curdle in coffee. But there was plenty to survive.

The pub has a lovely atmosphere and our bedroom was lovely, dark carved wooden headboard, two lovely comfortable chairs. Yes we had a view of the cemetery from our window but no problem for us. The breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked. Also had a meal in the evening which was also good.
