Definitely an extra but it would have been nice to have little lights by the beds, however it works as a hostel room really well and I didn't really miss it.

Really lovely staff and a smooth check-in. The communal areas were nice to read and meet other travellers (or sit alone if you want to). Amazing natural outside area to explore and right in the heart of the mountains.

I understand that the hostel is trying to save water, but the water pressure in the shower was too poor, I couldn't wash my hair. If your hair is long or/and thick, it's impossible

The staff is really nice and helpful! The food was very good. The surrounding areas is stunning! Certainly the best view

It was very cold and the vegan sausage was bad. But I'd definitely stay here again. Absolutely

I found it very comfortable and accommodating. The staff was great and the building was beautiful. The beds weren't bad either. The breakfast was very good.

No options for EV charge points simple slow charge point options would be very helpful for EV owners to plan for. Also more variety of food , local delicacies offered would be so add up to ++ ratings.

The ambience, common facilities, parking facility and most importantly location.

The location is a bit off-beat for those with large luggage, but the YHA itself is perfect!

While we couldn't book the more central YHA Ambleside, YHA Langdale was an amazing discovery! The staff was so polite and ready to accommodate all our requests. The chef in particular needs a mention because he personally came to check if our food was good, which it was. The YHA has a sprawling outdoor lawn which has stunning views of Langdale! There are so many common areas for guests to sit in and a very Victorian dining hall which looks so royal. The best part is that just 200 m downhill from the hostel, you have an in-road (off-road) into the Rydal Mount trek that has amazing views of the Lothay river and is a must-do, in my opinion! The downside, of course is that if you are not travelling by your own car and have a lot of luggage (like me- I was on an international trip), the last bus stop is 2.2 miles away (Grasmere- bus 599, 555), so you will either need to take a cab from Ambleside (try Amber taxis, super helpful) or walk uphill for 45 mins (which is quite refreshing otherwise but nearly impossible to do with a trolley). Having said that, I wouldn't change a thing about my trip because the walk downhill to the Grasmere bus stop (the Wordsworths' graves are nearby) is so scenic that it leaves you completely spellbound! Try the coffin trail that starts near Dove Cottage (especially when it's drizzling a bit) and of course, the YHA leads to the Great Langdale pikes! Or if you want a relaxed stay, you could just go for fishing along the river. P.S.: The receptionist, Miranda, is possibly the loveliest human we met on our trip to the UK.

I found the bunk beds to be small and the ladders dangerous when I moved during the night.

Staff were wonderful, setting was beautiful,. I wish we had more time to spend there on our trip.

The shower pressure was very low, difficult to wash hair for someone with long hair. However it s understandable,as the hostel informs the guests that the water pressure is low.

Great staff- knowledgeable about the area and services, fun and friendly. Rooms were big, beds were comfy, the whole hostel was spacious and with various areas to sit, eat or relax. Liked the options of self-catering or hostel-catering.
