Would recommend booking an en-suite room because showers were often busy. Would have been good to have access to a kettle in the main building without needing to go to the kitchen in the barn building. Found the wifi very spotty with frequent disconnection and we had no phone service at all which could be a problem for some if expecting strong wifi connection. Staff kindly let us use the landline for taxis etc.

Staff were extremely nice and helpful. Perfect location for the Snowdon Miners Track/ Pyg trail and with a bus stop right outside with a frequent service. Beautiful scenic location for a walk in the mountains. Hostel was clean and cosy. Very convenient to have a restaurant and bar in the building. Generous breakfast and happy to have vegan/ vegetarian options on the menu. Drying room was handy.

Beds weren’t comfy but it’s what you’d expect for a hostel bunk bed. Shame the bar wasn’t open at all not even for a coffee around midday.

Perfect location for walking. Really friendly helpful staff, they even let us use the dry room and showers after we’d checked out.

About the parking. While doing the booking itself, should give the guidelines about the parking facilities, as the hostel is not having parking facilities their own. Found difficult to get a parking space at the night time and without having internet and mobile connectivity on that area.

We had breakfast it was lovely may I add,however when we got out cutlery every knife and folk was dirty still had food on, I went through the whole cutlery to find a clean one unfortunately they wasn’t one.this was very off putting,bowls and plates also had food residue on

It was difficult to operate the ovens. They took ages to get hot, which meant it took a while to make dinner. I didn't like the extortionate car park!

The main issue is the parking; expect to pay up to £40 a night if you want to park for longer than 12 hours, as well as having to book a park beforehand. We parked in a nearby town (Nant Peris) and took the bus to Pen-y-Pass (it stops in the YHA car park), but be warned that the last bus is around 6:45pm, so you can't stay out that late unless you fancy a 1 hour walk, or have a taxi pre-booked (it can be hard to get service).

YHA Snowdon Pen-y-Pass was an excellent place to stay, right in the middle of one of the nicest passes of Snowdonia. The accommodation itself was about what you'd expect from a YHA; a good bed, a nice breakfast if you pay, and helpful staff. The main draw of this location is the scenery, as well as the close proximity to a number of hiking trails.

Parking is a pain but this was well explained before going. Free / cheap parking 2-3 miles down the road with shuttle.

All the microwave were smelling awfully bad as if not clean for long. I am a vegetarian and to heat something in microwave it was not conducive at all. Shower tap was a pain you need to press it continuously every min to ooze out water for bath. We paid for 2 bed ensuite but the space was really small both bed and room. Given the price we paid the kind of room and utility were not that matching.

Location was superb, staff was also very supportive on every grounds. Appreciate all the support.

Shower pressure wasn’t great and timed out every 30 seconds. Toilets very hard to flush. Privacy curtains on bunks would be a great addition too.

Bus to llanberis finishes quite early in evening so expensive taxi. Not yha fault but captive audience makes taxis charge excessively. more night time summit climbs now. ? More transport options via yha.
