The bed was a bit noisy so I’d often wake myself up when turning in my sleep. Also, I couldn’t get any hot water out of the shower during the middle of the day. It was working in the morning though, so not sure if the hot water is only on at certain times.

The hostel is right on the South Downs Way, so is perfectly located after a long day’s walk. The cafe/kitchen had a good selection of drinks, snacks and meals. The lounge area was really nice too and a great place to relax with a good selection of board games. The staff were really friendly too.

The vinyl covered mattresses - although I can understand why.

Location, next to Southease station is really handy (easy travel to Brighton, Lewes, etc). Having free parking so close too was also useful (my friends travelled by public transport, but I drove). There's a big kitchen with everything you need for self catering. The beds are comfortable but they have a vinyl cover and I got very hot in the night. The reception staff were so friendly and amazingly helpful - I can't praise them enough.

There is a cycle store there they didn't tell.me about.

Cheap dorm accommodation near Lewes for Lewes bonfire night. Short 3.5 mile cycle in. Opened early so we could book in and get into Lewes before all the roads were closed. Access to farmhouse to add boiling water to my oat pot and a cup of Rooibush.

Sadly, we found the beds to be really uncomfortable. We were staying in a bunk bed and the mattresses felt very hard. We had been out hiking so I'm sure that contributed to our aching muscles, but I don't think I'd enjoy staying for more than one night in the bunk bed.

Stopped here for a night to go on a hike in the local area. We really enjoyed the vibe and feel of the hostel, it feels authentic to the countryside but well designed and equipped. The staff were all very helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was good, not loads of choice but more than enough and exactly what you'd want from staying in a hostel. It got a little busy, but things moved fast and food was replenished often so it wasn't an issue. We didn't eat in the cafe in the evening, but did have some drinks and it was very reasonably priced, especially in comparison to local pubs in neighbouring villages.

The lights in a hallway were left on during the night with no option to dim it. As the doors have a big gap in the doorframe a lot of light was coming through, some insulating tape would help.

The location is great, facilities and op notch and also has a cafe, couldn’t ask for more

The price was way too high for a hostel (£100 for a hostel bed for a night, verses £15 for a bed at YHA Truleigh Hill, the night before), but the killer was the road noise, as the accommodation blocks back onto the A26, which is the main route into Newhaven Port for the cars and trucks heading in and out of the DFDS ferry terminal, as such the noise during the night was loud and constant, so not conducive for a good night sleep.

Lovely staff and clean, with a good selection of food and drinks for a hostel.
