Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyLocated at the upper end of Usghuli in close proximity to Lamaria Church, the accommodation offers the perfect starting point for tours to the Shkhara Glacier. On the way to the glacier you come by at the art museum of the painter Fridon Nizharadze, which you should definitely pay a visit to. Here, old Svaneti symbolism is interwoven with surrealistic motifs. Likewise, the Ethnographic Museum is just 1 minute away. The hosts are absolutely fantastic! Anyone who hasn't experienced Svaneti hospitality yet has an opportunity. Be sure to book breakfast for 20 GL - there is a new surprise on the table every day. Horses can be booked for tours and the nature is breathtaking at 2200 m altitude. You should take some time with you to let the deceleration of the world take effect on you. (and also cash - there are no ATMs in Ushguli and you cannot pay by card anywhere).

GermanyThere was only one electrical outlet in the room. A table beneath it would be good so you can place your phone somewhere while charging.
The location of the guesthouse was great, the family very nice and the facilities very clean. You can eat very delicious food in their Restaurant Stumari. They organized a taxi back to Mestia together with other guests. In the end it was as expensive as taking the marshrutka. For us it was perfect, since we ran out of cash (there is no bank or ATM in Ushguli) and we could pay them when we arrived in Mestia.

GeorgiaThe facilities are quite basic, however enough to spend couple of days at the authentic village environment in the mountainous part of Georgia. Also having a bit more local decorations would be nice in the rooms.
The hosts are amazing! Welcoming and helpful, I would definitely go back to stay at their place. The hostel owners also have their restaurant nearby which is quite good for arranging food during the trip.

LatviaThe main problem for me was that we did not understand about pricing for breakfast and dinner. The owners have changed their policy about breakfast- it is not included in the room price and you don't not how much did it cost before paying. The same about a dinner. There are 2 shared showers for several (I think 8) rooms. While we were there one was broken.
The guest house's location is excellent and the owners are very kind and helpful. But they don't speak English. If you know some Russian, it will help to communicate. The rooms are very simple (imagine a comfortable hostel) but it is totally ok because the main thing to do in Ushgully is go for walks and be outside. All you need after that is a hot shower and bed. And that you can have at the place.

NetherlandsIts in the village a bit up hill with an amazing backdrop of mountains. Everything was clean, showers were warm and handy after a day of outdoors and walking. There is also a shared sitting area which was good to lounge in.

Czech RepublicGuest house Riho is the best. You feel very welcome, your host Natali will take care of you very well. She is a great cook, we were totally full after every dinner and breakfast. The room exceeded our expectation, the bed was really soft. The guest house has also two terraces with a view to Usghuli which is a nice plus.

IsraelWe didn’t have access to a shared kitchen and were told to eat in the restaurant, which is run by the daughter-in-law. The food there was very tasty. The bed was a bit uncomfortable (indented mattress).
The guesthouse is located towards the end of Ushguli so there is an amazing view of the mountains. The rooms were clean and cozy. The showers were hot- perfect for the cold weather. Bring your own towels and soap. Though the owners weren’t able to speak English we were still able to communicate with them at a basic level. All in all it was a nice and authentic experience!

LithuaniaThe lady running the house was a bit pushy to go visit her restaurant for dinner. We agreed on the time and when we arrived in the evening there was nothing prepared. We just ordered from a menu, lol. The room itself only had one electrical outlet, so you can't charge two phones at night. Shared shower/toilet ran out of toiler paper fast when a group of german bikepackers showed up.
The location was great, it's right next to the road that leads to the glacier. Also if you just keep walking down, you will walk across the entire Ushguli. The room was clean and very basic, only one bed and one chair, but the views from the room were great. Everything was very simple, but for the price it's a good place for one night.
