How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Rooms are not cleaned. We saw cockroaches in our room. There's no kitchen or at least a microwave. Rooms are on the first floor only. The room is mostly visible from the outside.
It's pretty cheap and the beds are comfortable. The location is good, pretty close to the cultural center and sea.

The bathroom has an integrated shower, and I find it generally not a good idea, especially in areas with high humidity. Hence the strong smell stays in the room for some time, but also when entering the hotel - there is a strong humidity smell. There were not enough storage facilities, like a closet or a shelf, just a small night table. It's not very clear how to get the receptionist/owner - and the answer is to call because if he's not there, he's hanging somewhere around (like in the animal shop downstairs)
Located just a bit off the buzzing area, the hotel has several rooms on the first floor of an apartment house. The room has good internet, a small fridge, its own bathroom (with warm water), air conditioner, and a TV. The windows face the backyard. The room I stayed in even though it has huge bad fits well for one person for a short (up to 2 days) stay. I could also leave the luggage after the check-out.

My room didn’t have a tv, even though it should. I like something playing in the background when I travel alone… The bathroom seemed clean but was always weirdly wet - from the moment I arrived literally all the walls were dripping with water.
Overall fine. Staff was nice and helpful. Well located. Room had a comfortable bed and air conditioning.

The whole place smelled like mold, the sheets were literally wet. When we reported, the owner told us we could go and stay at somewhere else. not a welcoming person

In four days my rooms was not cleaned (even once). The room smelled of humidity and stank. It is a guest house not a hotel run by a Georgian man. If you need anything you need to communicate via whatsup, which was not a problem to me. However, I will not recommend this place for a solo woman. The last night of my stay there was no water in a hotel. I waited till nine o'clock in the evening (as I was told). Then I asked my host either to solve my problem and provide me with at least drinking or return the price of my last stay so that I can go to another hotel. First I was told that I need to wait longer which I refused as it was getting late already. Then my host told that he will come and bring me to his apartment. This "wonderful" opportunity was again rejected by me. Finally with a lot of arguing, I got some drinking water at half past ten o'clock at night (I needed to get at 5 the very next morning). But this is not the end, as a bonus my host gave my cell phone number to his friend so he could chat with me. And a host himself continued sending me messages even after I left Batumi. I traveled quite a lot solo but I have never experienced such attitude anywhere else from hotel staff (even in Morocco which is not notorious for its harassment)
A hotel was cheap in fair location to the city. There were many small shops/cafes/restaurants available nearby.

I really enjoyed staying at Pheria. The location is great, close to bus station and the walk to the beach is very pleasant. Many great restaurants all around. The room was very clean and tidy. Davit, his brother and father helped me in every way during my stay. Thank you very much.
