Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongDrivers might have a hard time to get up the hill to the hotel, the road up there is horrible. Breakfast was nothing to write home about, did for instance not have anything else to drink than water and only pour-over coffee. We did not get an extra blanket like we asked about, and I'm not sure whether they wash the "duvet" (/blanket) often enough, the blanket did at least have no cover.
Location is pretty good, walking distance from Cape Coast castle and restaurants. Air condition works well and bed is comfortable.

United KingdomThey could have evening facilities eg a restaurant or evening service. I understand this is in the pipeline.
If you want to be on the heart of Cape Coast with all the hustle and bustle then the location is great.

United KingdomThe property is dated. We hired three rooms for our group. In one room the aircon didn’t work and I’m another the toilet flushing wasn’t working. Although gated, it was still a little noisey. Breakfast was ok but no choice on what you got.
The property is gated and was relatively clean. it’s about a ten minute walk to the castle and the beach. The staff were friendly and helpful.

BulgariaThere was no hot water temporarily but you don't really need it in the hot weather.
The location is a 15-minute walk from Cape Coast Castle. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable and the room was cosy. The view is nice too.

CanadaEverything was very good, so nothing to dislike. The staff and property owner are very friendly and nice.
This is a very nice clean and comfortable place to stay. The building is situated on a hilltop overlooking the downtown area of Cape Coast, on a nice day you can see the ocean from the balcony.

GermanyThey provided only very small towels, which are not enough for adults having maybe even two showers a day in the hot climate etc.. The coffee and milk are all only provided with those little ready-made portions out of a plastic package (Nestle Powder and Nescafe).
The host ladies were very welcoming and helpful. They tried their best to make us feel comfortable and even organised us a small spontaneous dinner as we were homebound with a sleeping child. The showers were nice, and the breakfast was ready on time as agreed. Everything was tidy and clean. The location on the hill is super central and provides an interesting perspective on the city.

United StatesThe location was at the top of an obscure dirt road and difficult to locate.
The property was a little difficult to locate, even with local assistance. The immediate surroundings left a little to be desired , but once you were on the property, it was very nice. It has the feel of an Airnbn. I liked that there was a guard on duty and a locked gait to enter and exit the property. The staff were very nice and gracious. They also prepared a light breakfast in the morning. It was very close to the Cape Coast Castle. I would recommend it.

GermanyNothing really, I have two minor suggestions: - It would be nice if there was WiFi available. As guests from outside Ghana we struggle to get data on our phone and it would have been great if we had WiFi provided at the location. - Breakfast was great, but it was the same sandwich each day, after awhile it could get a bit boring. nonetheless it was delicious.
Our stay was wonderful, the owner put a lot of attention to detail. It is simply beautiful looking over the whole city with all those flowers, very peaceful very secluded and yet still in the middle of town. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I would book this place any time again and would recommended it in a heartbeat.

SpainLike everyone says, there’s a short, steep climb up to the hotel. The path is a bit rough, but nothing you can’t pull a suitcase up. Loud music on Fri/ Sat night nearby (funerals, I was told). IIused earplugs and slept fine.
Great location, close to everything in Cape Coast. Friendly mother + daughter team looking after the place in the daytime keeping everything. There’s also a security guy around at night, so it feels really safe. All were waiting to help us with luggage when we arrived even though it was quite late. The owner was really responsive to calls on how to get there and helpful at all times :)
