Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyAs soon as you leave the hotel there are bumsters everywhere. However, thats typical for all touristic areas at the seaside in Senegambia, so nothing hotel specific. If you go to less touristic areas, you won't have this problem and get to know the real Gambian Kindness.
Beautiful resort with huge pool and very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable apartments. Sport activities like volleyball for those who are interested.

We had a great stay at the resort. It offered everything you'd expect from a 4* resort; very spacious room with a huge and comfortable bed, TV and aircon. It was literally two steps from the pool which was great! It has a strong shower with hote water if needed! The property has a great central bar where you can order your cocktail and food :), the pool has showers and toilets so when you check out early you can still enjoy the pool up until you need to leave. The reception looks after your belongings. It was very secure, there is a safe in the room but we didn't really use it as we felt the room was secured enough. The buffet breakfast provided a lot of options, warm and cold food and beverages. The resort has a lovely staff, very friendly and helpful, there is also a main entrance very friendly security team. There are restaurants and bars just across the road from the hotel, and walk to the beach is about 5 mins, as well as to the busy main road, where you can find more shops, bars and restaurants. The monkey park is nearby, walkable distance so very convenient. We have nothing negative to say about our stay, the wi-fi is not 100% reliable but it's doable and does the job.

GermanyOverall a pretty nice place. After reading some of the most recent reviews I was wondering about the pool situation (after booking I did get a notification about ongoing construction still), but during my time there were no more renovations and it was fully functional and clean. Almost all the staff was extremely nice, helpful and professional. The wifi was fine in the bungalow I was staying in, power does cut in and out a lot (and sometimes stayed off for a while) but I doubt that‘s a hotel-specific problem, so no complaints there.

SenegalThe staff. Many of the staff would just sit around using the WiFi and looking so bored like there was nothing to do. The WiFi was terrible kept cutting on and off, so it’s not reliable if you need it for work or download. Charging 100 D for a liter of water is ridiculous, when juice is free at breakfast. Also I wouldn’t get the custom breakfast, just keep it simple cause they have the cook taking orders, cooking, setting up the breakfast table, and serving the food from 7-10. The food is subpar at the resort so don’t expect a restaurant quality meal. The meals are more like home cooked food and the dinning area smells like cooking oil.
I like the hut style resort. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy the weather. The peacock will keep you company if you are quiet. The pathways inside the property make a nice walking trail.

NigeriaWell, I think the rooms could do well with a few more items such as - a small fridge, mugs, cutlery, electric kettle, cups in the bathroom, and maybe even an insecticide. Having these items in the room would have taken the experience to a whole new level.
So, because of the very good experience that I had had at the resort, I decided to extend my stay by another night and it was absolutely worth it. I really love the hut-like buildings 🛖, the paintings by the bed, and the blue pool 🏊♂️… The breakfast wasn’t great but there were a few options to get you going for the day. The mini-zoo is one of my favourite things here and the peacock 🦚 is one I cannot stop watching. I love how it’s a welcoming place for travelers so we could connect, bond and share the experience together. I hope to stay in this resort the next time I’m in the Gambia 🇬🇲

NigeriaWell, the room I stayed in was not mopped by the time I entered and there was a bit of mold in the room which later triggered an allergic reaction. But, it wasn’t too serious and they promised to take care of it when I complained.
I had a great time at the Bamboo Village Resort. The staff (especially the kitchen staff) were very nice and friendly and the resort is such a lovely place to stay. I particularly enjoyed hearing the palm leaves blow again each other, the sound of birds, and more. I love watching the peacocks playing and the other animals playing around. I’m not so much of a swimmer but it was lovely to see the blue pool against the brown aesthetic of the resort. I’ll definitely come again.
