Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI was happy with my stay.
Met my expectations. A quiet room in an off the track location where I could carry out my bird watching and bird photography. Evening meals were good and the staff and locals always friendly.

You will need quite some patience and understanding because of the electricity and water cuts, staff are good hearted but things like breakfast move slowly slowly, just enjoy , have a morning walk and swimming in birthday suit before..

United KingdomWe had the deluxe VIP room and had our own balcony that had a perfect view of the beach. The bed was massive and the water pressure was really strong. The location is perfect and so relaxing. Not many ppl bothering you and those that come to speak move on quickly of you are not interested in buying anything. The food was amazing and always freshly cooked. I had a thai yoga massage on the beach which was a great experience.

United StatesThe location of Jungle Beach Resort is everything you want for relaxation, access to the beach and a gorgeous view! The dinner was delicious with generous portions. The breakfast was equally generous and part of the package! Coffee or tea, eggs and sausage with bread, butter and sweet options.

NetherlandsA warm welcome and goodbye by the staff. Hardly any communication with them. We needed to ask for towels the next day…One day there was no water in the shower. That can happen ofcourse but very uncomfortable and maybe for compensation they could have given a free drink or so. At the beach was hardly any staff and so we had to pick up our own drinks and snacks. Vendors come by with snacks like fruits and peanuts but they are with too many… Please take care of the litter and let visitors clean up their own junk…you have an amazing lodge with lots of opportunities!!! Go for it!!!
The location is amazing!!! Terrace at sea is amazing! Breakfast was okay.

GermanyStill it is a bit unclean, compared to the other beaches we saw in Gambia. Sometimes the smell of fish from the neighboring factory spreads quickly when the wind is right. Nevertheless, the Jungle Lodge is reasonably tidy but with some rubbish in the corners. The promised sea view of the Deluxe Suite can only be realized from the terrace past the pile of pallets. The whole lodge is pretty run down, more than we expected. We only stayed for 24 hours of our planed five nights. Unfortunately, we got stomach problems on the first afternoon after eating there and were therefore tied to the room, in which the promised wifi was not even there to be found. Around midnight the power went out completely on the entire beach, which of course can happen - but for us this meant to spend the night completely without water, without light, without a toilet etc. while being sick. It was an awful night for us due to several unfortunate circumstances. The entire area is probably also often affected by power cuts, but the Jungle Lodge has no emergency generator. For a short period of time these are tolerable conditions. But during our stay it lasted from the evening until late the next day and when the electricity couldn't be repaired in the morning either, we quickly decided that we wanted to leave immediately and didn't want to stay there for four nights longer in this situation and with the risk of even spending more days sick and without water & electricity. Unfortunately, this was not made possible for us so easily to leave. At first there was appeasement and delay and after hours of waiting and discussion, one manager showed up but just called another manager and after waiting for him to arrive and again talking and endless explanations he was rude and aggressive towards us. After a long and loud discussion, we got our money back and were allowed to leave the lodge.
The lodge is a nice part of the Paradise Beach, where you can enjoy the sun between a lot of palmtrees and relax nicely.

United KingdomThis is a budget hotel and was very over-priced for the basic facilities. They should either charge far less or upgrade the place which is in a beautiful location.
The location was beautiful and the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful but the standard of the rooms was very poor for the money. We had booked for 4 nights but moved out after the first night and moved up the coast to Sennagambia where, for the same price we got a far better room with access to lots more facilities and things to do.

United KingdomA little piece of paradise, the grounds is beautiful little jungle on one side and the beach on the other. The rooms are nice, we had the family room and there was enough space for us. We had outside space too that overlooked the beach. Food is always cooked fresh and taste really good. The best part for me is the people their. Major and Andre are amazing. Always friendly and helpful, they helped to organise my neices birthday surprise party and joined us in the celebrations. The trip is worth it just for these guys. I can't wait to go back.

United KingdomThe horrendous smell from the Chinese fish factory at the north end of Sanyang Beach, carried on the northerly breeze. The whole place feels very run-down and could do with updating Sanyang Beach is not "Paradise". There are hustlers and a lot of half-built or shutdown properties on the beach. Doubtless Covid has not been kind, and hopefully the situation will improve.
Large room with enormous, comfortable bed. Room was very clean. Food and bar ok. We enjoyed the Gambian Drummers who were playing in the late afternoon. Be aware that this is really a backpackers place with volleyball on the sand etc. Probably the liveliest place on the beach.
