Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Arab EmiratesThe room was very dirty. The kitchenette was old and the sink and faucet was greasy and unsanitary. The bathroom was extremely dirty with rusted metal, unclean floors, mold in the corners of the tiles and everything you touched had a thick grease on it that wouldn't come out. The shower faucet also didn't have a hook. We actually felt more dirty after getting out of the shower. If the bathroom and kitchen were updated, this would be a completely different review, but quite frankly, we deliberately spent as little time in our room as possible as it made us feel gross.
Amfitrion had a good location and it was close to the beach. The pool was nice and the room was large. The air conditioning worked well once it was fixed on the second night.

GreeceCould be much much cleaner. Outdated bathroom (water pressure barely there, no shower curtain, smelled of shower drain), hair everywhere in the bathroom, flickering lights, kitchen cupboards where dirty,… Badly maintained in all areas. Seems like to effort is put in. No shampoo, very old glasses and cutlery that need changing. Weird smelling sheets. For that price I expected at least having a clean room.
Great location, nice outdoor area and lovely flowers everywhere. Helpful staff

MalaysiaTo summarize, we booked 6 nights and we left the hotel after 3 as we couldn’t stay any longer in the hotel. For the price (603€ for 6 nights), we were expecting something different. The room itself (room 9) was really old and not maintained. The room had 4 individual beds, 2 in the entrance adjoining the kitchenette, 2 in the main room were the only air conditioning was. Bed frames, mattresses, pillows and sheets should be thrown in the bin and be replaced immediately. You couldn’t give them away even for free. The two baking trays were totally rusty. We haven’t even tried to switch them on as they were disgusting. Anyway, there was nothing provided to clean the 4 plates (2 small, 2 large), 5 mismatched glasses, 1 pot, 1 fried pan, and also mismatched cutlery. The daily cleaning was just to fold the sheets and add toilet papers if needed. Nothing was cleaned so I assume nothing is sanitized between guests. In this COVID time, it is far from being ideal to say the least. The shower in the bathroom had no curtain so the room was flooded every time. The toilet was disgusting, towels provided suspicious and the taps difficult to open and close (the hot tap in the kitchenette could not even be opened). The sink siphon was leaking whenever the taps were opened. The small terrace wasn’t better with old and dirty chairs and table. The outside dryer was broken and a tentative fix with tape wasn’t successful. Cigarette butts are found on the pathway to the rooms and grass all over the place. It. should have been a clear warning.
The owners are very nice, friendly and helpful but unfortunately they seemed to have given up on maintaining their hotel. The swimming pool area is quite nice and the kids enjoyed it. The sun baths and mattresses would need to be changed. The outdoor bar is ok and the owners served orders really well. The wifi worked well in the room as well as around the swimming pool area. Finally, the hotel is well located, only few minutes from the small Vari beach and the few bars and restaurants along the beach.
