A little tricky to find with narrow village roads but parking is fine, either directly outside or at the end of the street.

A lovely, split-level converted traditional building with lots of space and a sweet interior garden/patio area. Archanes is a great village with a lively square full of locals (nearly all men!) And the centre is an easy walk down the hill. There is a good choice of great value bars and restaurants - cheaper than the more touristsy towns. A good place to stay while visiting Knossos and Heraklion, without the crowds.

We had to remember to throw toilet paper in the garbage, instead of flushing it. As an American, driving and parking on these very narrow streets was pretty scary!

Perfect location for exploring Heraklion and Knossos Palace. The village it is in is beautifully charming, with plenty of restaurants. The apartment itself is cozy and romantic. There is a beautiful little private courtyard (shared between these apartments) with seating, with a sweet smelling Jasmine and several geraniums, and the living area is nice for relaxing in the evening.

You could hear the cars riding through the street fairly loud.

everything was beautiful from the first moment entering the Arhontiko building with a long history from the 18th century I was delighted with the beautiful flowers and the big yard. the villa was higher than our expectations, how beautiful everything compared to the photos perfect cleanliness in all areas and especially in the bathroom the host Anna very kind and informed us about everything the breakfast we had was incredible.. rich and fresh everything... we will come again..

Loved this beautiful villa, especially relaxing in the gorgeous shared courtyard filled with plants. The bedroom was beautifully cool without aircon (though that also worked very well) and it was so quiet and peaceful.

I booked this beautiful apartment due to the description of its location advertised as 6 miles from Dafnes. As we were attending a wine tasting at Doulofakis winery in Dafnes at 2:00 p.m., I expected to drive a few km afterward. It turns out that the property is 40 minutes away and difficult to find in Arcanes. We had to return to Iraklion in order to head south again to Arcanes. Even with a pin dropped for the location, it was difficult to find within the town and directions from locals were confusing as they know their town by landmarks rather than street names. The only parking for the apartment is at the end of the street in a free parking lot which we found only by directions from neighbors. The property is listed as Arhontiko apartments while the street signs are labelled Arhontiko villas and this distinction is crucial as they are meant to be the same. Plus, one street sign arrow was hidden by foliage we discovered later on a walk which would have led us to find it much easier once we realized it was the correct place.

Beautiful old family home with lovely gardens. Central for those staying in the area for day trips. Anna, current owner, grew up here and came the following morning to check in with us and provide family history on the house. She arranged a later check out time as we had an airport departure in the later evening.

Although at Arhontiko you have self check-in you still get to meet the hosts. It is a multi-generational family home that has been made into apartments and that family is there to meet you later. The homes well-preserved historic charm is most enchanting. There are ancestral family photos on the walls with interesting facts so you feel a nice connection. Also, the matriarch still tends her courtyard flowers.
