Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsSome small points: note that there is no stove in the kitchen so you won't be able to cook dinner there. Also, the neighbourhood with all of the graffiti can be a bit intimidating, although even I, as a girl, have never really felt unsafe.
Lovely hostel in a beautiful old house with a nice garden, living room and tiny kitchen where they serve a simple breakfast every day. We walked everywhere, which was very doable. Very attentive staff that left us sweets and a note when we arrived, I would recommend staying here!

AustraliaBunk beds could be sturdier. Tinned (or fresh) fruit could be included to eat with the delicious Greek yoghurt for breakfast.
Beautiful decor and a cosy atmosphere. Bathrooms were cleaned regularly and there were enough for the number of guests. Great communication from staff. Lockers with key provided. Towels provided.

SerbiaEverything was perfect. If I ever came again to Athens I would stay here again for sure. 10/10
Amazing vintage desing, I had a feeling like I am at home. Every single detail is well organized and designed. There is a lot of space for everyone, so you don’t have a feeling that there are a lot of people, but it is always full. Staff are so kind and friendly. Location is good, about 20min by walk from Sintagma sqare, and there is also a bus stop in front of hostel. Nearby there are a lot of cafees and bakeries.

Looked like a grandmas house converted, so it was quite quirky. Liked the balcony and the outside area.

TurkeyGreat location, clean, cosy rooms, vintage style -that makes you feel good- decoration, very nice and very helpful staff, not fancy but good enough breakfast. As it was my first experience in a dorm style hostel, I can't compare, but I was very satisfied and even extended my stay for 5 more days. Bathrooms were very clean and women friendly -sanitary pads, wet towels, even a moisturising cream etc... The neighbourhood was very alive, lots of cafes, restaurants -both local/cheaper and touristic ones.. Very close to the center. I went out alone at night to walk around and never felt uncomfortable. For a while i was the only woman in the hostel and all other guests were very nice and respectful. During my stay I worked remotely 4-5 hours a day in the living room and didnt have a serious wifi problem. I cannot comment on kitchen because i dont cook but it seemed ok to me. So if i have the chance i'll come back for sure..

PolandThe location of the hostel is really lovely. It's in the more quiet part of the city, without tons of tourist. There are some really nice restaurants bars and coffee places where the locals go. Also the highest hill of Athens, Lycabettos is nearby. The view from there is magnificent, you can see the whole city and the sea. The hostel itself is also very lovely, you can feel yourself at home. I recommend staying here if you want to be in a really beautiful and soulfull part of Athens.

AustraliaThis property was a little out of the main town centre but still in an incredible location near bars, restaurants and bakeries. The facilities were so cute and charming and the two ladies at reception were very kind and helpful. The courtyard in the back was an absolute highlight, so beautiful sitting there in the morning with a coffee and baked good :)

IrelandEverything about the hostel, the staff and the location was great. I stayed over Christmas eve, Day and the 26th and I had hoped the common areas would be more social. However, there were not many other guests and they did not really mix or engage with me. I usually choose hostels as a solo traveller because it is easy to meet and chat to other travellers. Unfortunately, I was unlucky on this occasion but that is not the fault of the hostel which I 100% recommend.
I chose to stay in the neighbourhood of Exarchea because it sounded like a great cool, authentic area and not very touristy. It was perfect and I could walk everywhere from there. I loved the hostel. It is more like a guest house or B& B than a traditional hostel. I had a private room but there are dorms available. The bathroom was next to my room, very convenient. Some great cafes, bars and restaurants nearby. My room was so cozy and cute and very comfortable! It looked out on to a little courtyard so was pretty quiet too. Very welcoming staff. Breakfast items were available as well as tea and coffee. It was the perfect place to start my visit to Athens. I would love to come back and stay again.

GermanyThe kitchen. There really is just a camping stove. ONE small camping stove. And not a lot of space. Although it is possible to cook up something small (pasta or a salad), don't expect to do a lot of cooking there. Just fill up on the breakfast, maybe take some snacks and go have dinner outside. The beds could maybe be a little bit more... solid :-)
Athens Quinta is the kind of place you should stay at when you want to keep away from so-called party hostels, but still be in the perfect (!) place to explore Athens. I especially loved the lovingly furbished communal areas, the various feel-at-home-bathrooms, the patio, the small but nice breakfast I hadn't expected at all and of course the people I met there. The guests at Athens Quinta play boardgames or read books instead of partying away the night in the patio. So if that's the kind of people you like (I know I do), you should definitely stay there ♥
