Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryIt wasn’t really well equipped, only the absolute necessities. No glass or cups no kettle, and the drink automata in the hall was not working properly I wasted a lot coins on water that got stuck inside. No paper no pen to leave message to housekeeper if we needed anything. Also the balcony could have been nice without the water raining on me from the air conditioners above.
The location was excellent, literally 5-10 minutes walk from Monastiraki square and the acropolis. There are tons of great restaurants and bars around. Almost every tourist spots are in walking distance so we barely spent money on transport. Even tho there’s busy night life in the area my room was quiet at night. Access to the hotel was very easy at any time, also the check in and check out was simple.

United KingdomVery little sound proofing! Certainly on ground/first floors - could have used some ear plugs with people coming & going. There isn't any holder for the shower, so not great for washing your hair.

Excellent location. Reached and left by metro without hassles. And to acropolis too. Self checkin and checkout. No time wasted. Good online guidance Quiet inspite of being near the most happening square. Very good and affordable dining places at walking distance. Small room but comfy/Value for money.

GermanyA little too loud since our room faces indoors (which we didn’t know it would) and into the lobby. So we heard people coming into the building.
Good location and convenient check-in via code and lockbox.

IsraelEverything was great. The only part that was a little annoying was that there was nowhere to store our luggage. We had to walk a few minutes and store them in another hotel for a fee If there was luggage storage inside the hotel it would have been a solid 10 especially for the price.
The location was fantastic. The rooms were very clean it even passed the dust test above the closet. There was even a cute deck on the rooftop with views of the acropolis. Everything was great especially the price. I expected less and was pleasantly surprised.

United KingdomNothing!
I needed a night's stay as I had a late flight and was meeting my friends early in the day the other day. The room was cool, spacious, clean. Monastraki is a vivid neighbourhood with tons of bars and restaurants, people were still hanging out on the streets when I walked to the hotel late at night which made me feel safer even. It's pretty close to the Monastraki metro station, I'd say 5-7 minutes with no hills - so it was easy to navigate the streets with my suitcase. I would think of staying here again next time.

GreeceThere was not hot water when I came back at night so I can use the shower. It was kind of noisy in the early morning (5am) as many people were departing for the airport or port but this is not a false of the property or the staff there. Just mentioning it.
The property was in the city center of Athens and it was very convenient to move around.

United StatesThe shower area is a bit small. It is fine for one or two nights, but for a longer stay it would feel uncomfortable. The building can be noisy. When I left my room I had to slam my door for it to close and lock. There was no other option, and I heard a couple of rooms with the same issue. There is also street noise depending on your room. Earplugs are essential. My room also got muggy when I was out. There were no vents in it to circulate air, and the electricity is triggered by the key card, so when you leave the ac shuts off which is fair, but then the air gets stale and muggy. My room had a balcony and the bathroom had a small window, so I used them to circulate the air. No problem for a couple of nights. A kettle would be nice. My room had space for a kettle, and an extra area for clothing and such would be nice. I made due. Two people in my room would be uncomfortable because it is not designed as such. It could be but it isn’t. Finally, this place is for someone that wants to save money and does not require service. It is a self guided experience and best suited for an independent traveller.
The location was good. It is close to the metro and in an upbeat neighborhood. The short stretch of street that the place is on seems a bit sketchy, but if you take a right out the building and walk for 1-2 minutes the atmosphere shifts. The room I got had a balcony and the size was decent. I didn’t use the balcony, but having a well lit room was nice.

Turkey1) I was lucky to get a room to have an actual window. İ notices plenty of rooms had windows opening to the corridors only. 2) there is a high potential of noise. Sound insulation is poor.

SpainParking is difficult in this area. We were travelling by car and understood from the description that a parking space could be reserved ahead of time for a low price (10 EUR). However, since we were visiting during Carnaval, by the time we arrived the parking was all full and we ended up driving in circles until we found a garage that charged us 25 Euros/night. If we had known this would be the case we might have chosen an apartment slightly outside the city centre. The room was a decent size, but it would have been nice to have more places to hang coats, bags, etc.
The room was very centrally located – a 2-minute walk from a lively area with lots of restaurants and bars and just 20 minutes away from the main historic sites. Check in and check out were very easy and the bed was super comfortable.
