Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing, we stayed 5 days and loved this place!
The property is well designed and decorated. sweeping views over Kini Bay. Beds were exceptionally comfortable. Chrissa is a fantastic host. very welcoming and hospitable. breakfast on the terrace with a great view was fabulous. coffee or tea, various ‘pies’, (spanakopita, tyropita, bougatsa,) cheese, tomatoes and olives, hard boiled eggs, bread and butter, yoghurt, fresh fruit. A feast! there is a nice pool and Kini beach is down the hill. it is easy to swim at this pretty bay, sandy bottom, gradual depth change. there is a shower to rinse off and several beach bars or tavernas. our unit had a lovely private terrace with the view. just be aware that there are a lot of stairs, let Chrissa know if you want to book an apartment just off the parking area… only 3 steps.

United KingdomThe only slightly disappointing thing was the view from our balcony, which was of hillls rather than a full sea view.
This small friendly hotel is a lovely place to stay and enjoy the beaches of Kini on the small island of Syros. It is a bit of an uphill walk back from the beach and village, but the views and the quiet spot make this worthwhile. Our room was large, comfortable and clean, although we would have loved more of a sea view. The bed was amazingly comfortable. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea every morning was wonderful. We ate at the hotel restaurant one night, but generally went into Kini where there were several good restaurants by the sea. It was nice to have a drink at the hotel in the evening and admire the view.

CanadaEverything was great! The room was spacious and clean. It was nice to have a pool on the premises. The location was conveniently close to Kini but not in the busy past of town. It’s also easy to get to the other areas of the Island from there. The staff are super helpful and very friendly. The breakfast was incredible!

United KingdomNothing that we didn't like!
We loved our stay at Captains. All the staff were incredibly helpful, including going above and beyond to help us with the logistics of day trips. There was a useful laundry service which was very easy to request. Breakfast was delicious and they kindly arranged gluten free bread for one of us. The studio was lovely and our terrace with a sea view was a particular treat. Our room was clean, bright and comfortable. The common areas were lovely and had a great view. The pool was very refreshing too. The position in Kini is great, there is lots to do here and a short journey into Ermoupoli. As the other reviews note, there is a short but steep walk, but this was fine for us. We will be returning!!

United KingdomThe shower was quite small but great pressure. The pool could be a little cleaner but this is simply some leaves and as it is on top of the hill it would be difficult to ensure there is nothing due to winds. Did not take away from the experience.
Fantastic family run (I assume) place. I booked last minute and had the studio and it was perfect for 1 and would be plenty of room for more! The shower is so powerful it was the best I'd had whilst in the cyclades. The products were also so good I ended up buying some. A short 10 minute walk down to the beach and beautiful Kini or secluded beach to the left. Longer up as it is steep. 15minute taxi ride to the port. Huge breakfast included and delicious dinner and drinks able to be purchased in addition. The staff running the place are so lovely and make you feel so welcome. Pool has a great view and beach and pool towels available.

What a magical family run hotel. Fantastic location with stunning views over Kini bay and the mountains. We stayed in room E5 the Suite with the sea view with a large picture window and terrace where you could enjoy a private view of the sunset from inside or out. The staff were so kind without being intrusive. A special mention has to go to Elsa 🥰

Great breakfast over looking the bay. Easy to get there by bus. Bus stops near by. Quite a steep walk down to the bay but on the positive side we had a great view. Very friendly family run business. Evening meals and drinks were available if you wanted to stay at the hotel. A few extra things like washing powder, clothes line and pegs, hob for cooking with all pans and crockery were available. The owner makes all the pastries along with the jam and honey. Definitely stay here again if we visited the island again.

ChinaWe loved staying here. The place was secluded and serene. The place is run by a family - they were always around and used the common facilities to work or hang out. This gave the place a sense of home. The rooms are lovely decorated and I think that all rooms have balconies. The terrace is cozy and with a beautiful view.

NetherlandsThe wifi was a little dodgy in my apartment - but it worked perfectly in the reception area, which is a nice area to hang out anyway. The walk up from the beach/restaurants to the property is quite steep but check the bus schedule in reception - I discovered, albeit on my last evening, that there was a bus that left the beach at around 21:20 and stops just before Captain's!
The little apartment was thoughtfully decorated and the view from the balcony was spectacular - overlooking the beach at Kini! The breakfast was great, with locally sourced produce, though it might be a bit "same-ish" if you were staying more than a few days. Lovely pool and loungers if you don't want to walk down to - and, more importantly, back up from - the beach and pool towels were available. A nice touch were the toys and games in the reception area for kids and an extensive "book swap" library.
