The location was really good next to many interesting places in Rethymno, yet far away from any noises. The place is really traditional, but well equiped with modern supplies. The home is really cosy and the best part of it is its breathtaking garden. You open the door and suddenly you find yourself in a serene garden full of trees and flowers. You can really enjoy yourself reading a book under an olive tree while the birds are singing and the noises of the waves are filling you with bliss. Last but not least, Giorgos, the host is very kind and ready to help you whenever you need. Can't wait to return.

Lovely characterful house in a very quiet residential neighborhood a short walk from the old town port. Lovely welcome on arrival. The house was very clean and well equipped. The garden and views were superb. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

We loved our entire experience.

My husband and I have stayed in many holiday homes over the last 36 years and we can honestly say that George was the best host we have ever had: thoughtful, generous, helpful and an extremely good communicator. Casa di Maria retained a delightful sense of the family history - enhanced by our meetings with George’s father who picked us the best fruit - combined with the all-important 21st century comforts and conveniences. The fruit-tree filled garden with its exquisite sea views was an absolute joy; we never tired of sitting there, whether reading, enjoying a cold drink or just gazing at the sunsets. The front terrace was perfect for shady relaxation during the day and for listening in to the evening concerts taking place at weekends in the stunning adjacent Venetian fortress. We would have liked to stay for ever.

Well hidden house just outside the fortress walls. Perfect private outdoor spaces to enjoy the views. George was very helpful getting us parked and settled. Easy walking distance to the harbour and old town. We only regretted not having longer here.

Back again after four years and really best place to us in Rethymno, hidden gem on the small hill beside Fortezza wall! Lovely house next to local polite residents, other side that wonderfull sea view under old olive tree and from other side terrace you can see Rethymno town. And all within walking distance. Surely we come again, thanks to you best friendly host George!

The location was brilliant and George was a fantastic host who provided some tips for the area. Nothing was too much trouble. The garden was wonderful too and our daughter loved exploring it. Everything was very comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay.

Everything about Casa Di Maria was lovely and magical. The outdoor space is even more beautiful than it looks in the pictures. It's hard to capture. Fruit trees, ocean, mountains, town lights at night. An amazing place to have a glass of wine :) George was an amazing host as well. Very attentive and informative, answering my questions promptly always. He left plenty of fruit, water, and juice as well as a lovely bottle of wine to enjoy. The parking spot that came with the property was so handy, and the location could not have been more perfect. A very short walk to the centre of the old town, but far enough away to feel quiet and removed. I can't say enough about this property and the experience we had there. Thank you George!!!!

A truly authentic, old house so the facilities reflect this and are in keeping - some loungers to enjoy even more the beautiful south west facing garden overlooking the sea would have made relaxing in the lovely setting even better.

An idyllic place to stay for a totally relaxing holiday. The location is outstanding and peaceful, up a small hill in the heart of the beautiful old town of Rethymnon with loads of lovely bars and restaurants nearby and only a short walk to the Venetian harbour. Uninterrupted views over the Cretan sea and sunsets from a gorgeous, fruit filled garden nestling under the Fortezza walls make it a truly special home. Our host George was so helpful and friendly, collecting us from the nearby bus station and giving us lots of helpful holiday tips. Thanks, George, for leaving the fridge and kitchen full of everything we needed to get started! and for simply the best holiday!

The location to the old town and beach is ideal. The views from the rear garden are superb and is perfect for a morning coffee or having a glass of wine watching the sunset. George the host is incredibly warming and helpful. He assisted us with our airport transfers and giving us recommendations for motorbike hire, local restaurants and bars. on arrival there was a bottle of wine, fresh fruit, bottled water, fresh coffee and jams etc. On check out he even gifted us with fresh pastries for our journey home. You really couldn’t ask for more!

The back garden hadan excellent view, but it could have been a little tidier!

George arranged all the transfer for us and we had no bother at all. He greeted us at the property and laid on plenty of water, fruit and other groceries. Nothing too much trouble for George.

Casa Maria is the perfect place to stay in the heart of the old town of Rethymno. Spacious comfortable and a lovely history. It has 2 pretty terraces where you can relax if you don't feel like exploring and just want to chill. The kitchen is very well equipped if you want to eat in but the choice of restaurants is amazing. George was very helpful and thoughtful supplying us with fresh fruit wine and bottled water(a must when in Greece) on arrival. Fabulous Host😃

George was an amazing host. He met us at a really unfriendly hour to show us to the property and make us comfortable. He also had superb recommendations and was super kind in every way. The property was beautiful. Close enough to the Old Town but away from any tourist hustle and bustle. Very calming sitting out looking over the sea - you almost don't want to leave!

I think this place will forever be in my top 10 from now on! The house itself is spacious and bright, it has so much character! The garden by the fortress is a true gem! You have central location, sea view, a private garden, but it's still very quiet and secluded. Wish we could have stayed there longer, definitely recommend!

We stayed in Casa de Maria for 3 nights. The interior of the house is clean and authentic. For us, the most amazing part of the house was the garden with a beautiful view. The location is great. It’s only 5 minutes walking to the center. George is an amazing host. He was very responsive on Booking. When we arrived he helped us looking for a parking spot and carried our luggage to the house. We’d definitely recommend this place!!

Perfectly clean. Perfect for families with children. In the heart of Rethymno. George is a great host. He thinks about every detail. Parking is not difficult. Just let know George when you are coming and he'll help you out. Great coffee machine 🙂. The place is better than in the pictures and the description. There is a washing machine, ask George about it.
