Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIf arriving at night! 1.Be careful with Google maps. It may do to you what it did to me and set you at 80-84- make note- only number address is 101. The bartenders at the restaurant previously mentioned just about saved my life as I couldn't find the apartment. It was dark, the neighborhood looks very scary with all the overwhelming amount of graffiti and empty streets. I was completely on edge when I couldn't find the place, but they were so gracious, so kind- let me connect to wifi to message the property contact (who did not reply until 10am the next day) and even walked me to the door an hour later when we (3 of us) figured out what happened. As a female solo traveler, this situation was pretty scary- if the property contact would have replied immediately, I would have felt a lot more secure with the next 2 parts... 2. The names on the call box are not exactly how they are written in the street hours check in instruction email. Even the gentleman who walked me to the door from the restaurant was guessing the selection was correct- that should be corrected ASAP by property. 3. It is a vet dimly lit entry to the front of the building, so I would recommend having lighting of some sort- while this neighborhood may be considered safe, locals informed me that there are a ton of Air BnB/ vacation rentals which makes this area a target for "traveler crime". Lighting helps! That said- NOTHING bad happened my entire stay. 4. The property check in instructions mentioned a master key for getting into the building- however- the area where that is kept was extremely confusing and I never did find it. 5. When you exit the elevator, there will not be a light on- extremely dark and creepy. Thankfully the property is directly next to the elevator- but get your lights ready! I did later discover a light switch on the wall across from the elevator.
It's in a very walkable area, close to historic sites (you're surrounded by them) and plaka neighborhood (10 min walk). Supermarket and EXCELLENT restaurant on the corner (Neratzia Bistro) you must get the Greek salad!! Also it's very quiet inside so a good night's sleep will be had- good clean mattress/ bedding, good pillows. Washing machine worked great- no dryer, but there is an option for hang drying off the terrace. AC worked well, however, leaving the terrace door open allowed all the fresh air in and was all that was needed for cooling in Sept. Full kitchen was a nice option.

CanadaBathtub clogged a bit, but they seem to clean quiet often. Not a big problem for me. I had a good luck of having quiet and respectful neighbours, but if u are unlucky, it may be loud. You are basically living in two bedroom apartment where bedrooms share a wall.
Well-equipped. Good location. Quiet. Clean. Just according to what it promised.

AustraliaThe only thing is bathroom is a tiny bit small.
Located in a nice quiet part of Athens but still close to all the touristy things. Clean, safe and secure. Aircon is in both rooms. Would stay here again

BulgariaAlthough the ceilings are higher than standard, the ceiling in the bathroom is very low and it is impossible for people over 180 to use the shower, only the rollaway shower can be used.
The location is relatively central, with a supermarket, restaurants and coffee shops close by. If you hire both rooms, the accomodation is pretty comfortable. I can not imagine how would have been our stay if there was another couple, since the bathroom and the dining area are small to share. We liked the refrigirator, which had option for an ice and filtered water.

United Statesthis is beyond control of the hostess but the entrance hall is dark and dirty, needs cleaning.
very good value; good communication with the owner/hostess; glitch with the front door access code -- the hostess sensibly changes the access code each few days, but the most recent code did not work so i used the previous code and gained access; it would have been difficult if I had not kept the earlier (old) code especially if I had arrived late at night. I did not know the apartment is 2-BR and it would have been useful to know that I would encounter 2 other men who were renting the other BR. the room is comfortable, very central, great value with full kitchen and a useful washing machine and able to air dry on a washing line on the balcony. i would stay here again.

United StatesI found the room through Booking.com, but the apartment manager communicated through an app called Smartbnb/Duve. We didn't get all the communications she sent. It made it difficult to check in. Eventually the manager sent a very nice person to let us in.
This is an apartment with two rooms and a small kitchen/seating area. We stayed in the blue room. We needed a place for my husband to get out of the heat on our last day in Athens. This room was perfect. The bed was large and comfortable. The place was quiet. The airconditioning was excellent. it was very centrally located, which made it easy to get to our car rental. The gold room was rented to another person, but we never saw them. A very nice woman came to let us in when we had trouble communicating via internet.

GermanyIt's pretty dark in the room and the flat itself. Not comfortable to stay there besides when you're sleeping. No daylight because of the lack of windows. Sharing a blanket is not my thing. Actually it was a thin sheet. In October it would be better to get a real, proper blanket.
The room was clean. The instructions per mail where clear.

United StatesIt’s a shared bathroom and living space with one other private room in the apartment. The other person staying with us wasn’t the cleanest in the bathroom. Would probably be different with another person sharing it though so I wouldn’t hold it against the apartment itself.
The bed was comfy and it has a washer which is awesome. Nice kitchen as well. The location is awesome because it’s close to all the popular things but not right in it so you don’t get quite as much of the touristy feel. The restaurant around the corner called Aubergines is the best! Super good food, they give you a ton, and it’s so cheap. We went four times and I would stay in the apartment again just to be that close to this restaurant again.

HungaryAlthough I left the air conditioner on, I woke up at night in a sweat, I needed to switch it off and on again to make it work again. However, it was not that unpleasant, in the 'snowflakes' and 'speed' mode on 16 degrees it was fine on the last two nights.
The apartment was very well-equipped, they provided shampoo, shower gel, tanning oil, a first aid kit. When I looked at new selves, I always found more and more things, even a proper shopping bag. In the kitchen, there were basic ingredients provided for cooking such as oil, sugar, salt, etc. Another advantage was that the room was very comfortable, clean and beautiful, exactly as in the pictures.
