Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe room and bathroom were very nice and a good size. The balcony looks over the beach and the pool. The staff were welcoming and helpful. For example, they gave us the bus schedule and location to get to Heraklion. Chania is a breathtakingly beautiful location.

This is a family run hotel that has an exceptional location and extremely helpful and friendly staff. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to people and come back again. Lovely walk to the old Venetian harbour.

United StatesWe booked late and it was unfortunate due to a breaker not being switched on (in the room) the tub was cold and we had to wait until morning. Thr lovely man manning the desk came and checked on it at 1 am and flipped the breaker - that made the difference. The only grouchy staff person we met was a woman that morning. She said it had not heated because it needed time - but we arrived at 9 and by 1 am - after coming back from dinner and drinks -it was not a touch hotter and no hot water was flowing into it. She tried to play it off like we were dumb. It was a bit infuriating but was not going to let it ruin our trip. Luckily we had the lovely man the night before that switched the breaker so it was nice and warm by morning. Thr only other thing is grouchy lady did not want to give us extra towels for the beach. It was chilly in mid April and we went swimming in the morning and our towels had gotten damp and we wanted new ones for the afternoon. She finally do - but with again some attitude that we were a burden. I only saw her this one morning - thank god - and everyone else was beyond helpful and kind. We walked to Old Chania to have dinner at the best authentic Cretan restaurant - Xani. I think it took us a solid 15-20 min to walk to Old Chania. After dinner we found the water area by the light house and that is FULL of restaurants as well, which we had to visit for 2nd dinner/drinks because it started absolutely POURING. The Greeks don’t seem to like the rain and they aid maybe it rains 2x a month. The wind was not quite a gale, but for Greece it seemed intense. Do know there are also lovely restaurants along the coast by the hotel a quick walk away - I wouldn’t go to Achilles though as there seem to be a group of men, every night, INSIDE smoking. Which smoking - know when you go to Greece smoking is the norm. This is part of the culture so do your best to embrace it.
The first two nights we got to stay in the room with a hot tub and that was amazing. We flew into Heraklion and visited the Temple of Knossos and didn’t have a hotel room for the night but knew we wanted to stay in Chania. It was great they were able to get us in. They have a small parking lot, but we were able to park on the street - something you cannot do in Old Chania where we thought of staying. The pool is lovely and our hot tub overlooked it. They have their own beach front with umbrellas and comfy lounge chairs $5 a person - the man will come collect it -and a breakfast/snack/lunch eatery that closes at 4 my trip and great beverages served by the kindest, hard-working bartenders. The man running the hotel was more than helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. We did have to move rooms for our last night - this was preplanned - and the small room was sufficient with a little kitchen and small balcony as well overlooking the pool. Also on the beach a few vendors may come by asking you to buy their wares. What I found in Chania - unlike Italy where they are so pushy - they are just trying to make some money to send back to their family. They are not pushy and the items they are selling are not expensive - so don’t bargain - it is likely cheaper than the third drink you just bought yourself - so just buy one.

United KingdomThe only negative is the beds were two singles pushed together (not zipped together), but it really didn’t matter too much!
We loved hotel Christina! We were in Chania for our 5th wedding anniversary so they gave us a top floor room with amazing sea views. It was perfect. The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped, with a big balcony. It’s right on the beach with its own beach front cafe and umbrellas for hire. They also have paddle boards and kayaks for hire which was an added bonus. An easy and pleasant 20min walk to the old town along the coast. Loads of cafes and restaurants within 5mins. Staff were friendly and always helpful. We will definitely be back.
