Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe only point of criticism is the Italian animation team (Veraclub). They take over from the International Animation Team a few days of the week. Unfortunately they only run Italian spoken events during the day and present their evening shows only in Italian with mostly Italian music and references to Italian pop culture, thereby excluding the other international guests. These days you feel more like being in Roman Village instead of Cretan Village.
We had an absolutely fantastic holiday in this all-inclusive resort in August 2023. We booked it directly via Booking.com. It is fully set up in Cretan style, also inside the rooms. This provides a very cosy atmosphere. Big plus is the direct access to a beautiful and clean private beach. No road splitting pool area and beach area - always direct access. The pools are sufficiently big to accommodate for all guests, with plenty of pool bars and an ISO certified cleanliness and safety protocol implemented. Food and drinks are really good (quality wines are from Mitsis owned wine cellars near Athens) and the all inclusive formula is well implemented in this resort. Last but not least to mention the people: they made our stay into an absolutely wonderful experience. Special thanks to Elena, Emilia and Catarina from the main restaurant and to Poppi and Nagy (the Resort's multilingual cocktail Master and our personal favorite bartender :-) from the cosy pool bar. And of course there is the Pink Wave International Animation team - absolutely outstanding, fantastic amazing evening shows and daytime entertainment! Thank you Robert (wow what a choreography!), Valentina, Filip (Mr Gasolina), Barbara (Bobbi!!!), Federico (One More Time), Alessandro, Emma, Maysam (our favorite and a great example to our daughters) and Jada.

United Arab EmiratesThe room was not the same as in the photo. Look like some rooms already after innovation and some old. We have old one. But generally it was comfortable and ok. Very bad experience with photographers. There are sitting close to the reception, telling you that photoshoots are "free", very annoying and coming all the time during the meal time, on the pools and in the bars. Latter on, they told you, that 11 euro for one photo. We did like 100 photos, so they asked for 1000 euro and so on. So it's a scam. I agree it's can be paid, but not like 400 euro only for digital copy to your USB. (Without printing anything)
Amazing location, beach front. Food is really nice, Italian chief Is great. Special thanks for international animation team, great and incredible shows. Good hotel for family holiday with kids.

Good menu in restaurant, though a bit crowdy and noisy. Loved the pizza snack place. Pools were ok. Good that hotel is right beside the beachline and no road in between

VenezuelaThere is not indoor swimming pool or many activities for rainy days. The lock of the room was a bit damaged, however was closing properly. They offered take away lunch in case you are not at the hotel, but for our surprise our take away lunch was two sandwich with ham and cheese, not even toasted. The next day I have to ask for a take away box and put some salad from the dinner buffet by myself. At least this one was possible. I understand that there is no possible to give something that need to be warm but salads are definitely an option to be considered.
The rooms were amazing, clean and well kept. You have a lot of space around the hotel. It is big with different swimming pools and the beach just in front. The hotel's staff was good. Very polite and friendly. We enjoyed our stay for 7 days. The food was nice, different options. Delicious cocktails.

NetherlandsThroughout the day, drinks are served in paper cups and lunch at the beach is also with paper plates and cutlery which is not really in line with the standard of the hotel. It sadly decreases the experience of the food and drinks and creates a lot of waste, even if they are paper. The fitness center was unkempt and kind of neglected. Some of the machines were broken which was a bit of a shame.
We loved the location of the hotel as the view is absolutely stunning! You had everything you could possibly need within the hotel in terms of food, activities and an amazing beach. The hotel also assisted us with planning an excursion to go see some other parts of the island which was very reaosnably priced and really a fun-filled and interesting day out! The food as also really delicious and it was really nice to have the option to eat in different restaurants in the hotel.

Czech RepublicI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Mitsis Cretan Village Hotel, and I must start by giving a big thank you to the Pinkwave animation team. Their shows were amazing and truly added to the enjoyment of our stay. It is a pity that they only have two shows a week. These performances are much more engaging and enjoyable than those by external entertainers, as we have no connection to the external acts. The animators we meet during the day are the ones we come to watch, and their familiarity makes the shows even better. I would love to see more shows from the Pinkwave team in the future. The hotel staff were some of the nicest I have ever encountered. A special thank you to Dimitris for his help with our luggage and to all the reception staff who made us feel so welcome. The team at the main bar were incredibly kind, and I cannot forget to mention the wonderful Mrs. Popy and Sir Nagy from the pool bar who made our time by the pool extra special. Overall, my stay at Mitsis Cretan Village Hotel was fantastic, thanks to the exceptional animation team and the wonderful staff. I look forward to returning soon!

United KingdomThe room we booked was so dated it should not have been allocated. The door was difficult to lock, it came out of it's frame a few times which the concierge had to help with. There was a shower in the bath which was very old and wobbly. The entertainment was not good at all, it would be better to have professional acts every night rather than the inhouse team putting on shows. Good for kids but certainly not for adults! Need beach shoes due to sharp shingle. More English channel options.
I really liked the fact I could pre book the a la carte restaurants from the UK before arriving and received confirmation for each one. The staff made the hotel and were all very polite and helpful, could not fault the service. I liked the location of the room, the gardens were nicely kept and there was a lovely little patio with table and chairs which we used to sit at in the afternoons. We were extremely lucky to be offered an upgrade to the Royal Mare next door into a luxury suite with a private pool. It was a lovely experience and we felt very honoured. Everything was arranged for us for the last 3 days of our stay, including transferring us there and back.

SwitzerlandWe were here from September 17th, 2023 to September 19th, 2023. This hotel is a typical tourist trap that advertises with old pictures. Some of the customer reviews are probably bought. It may also be that some guests don't want to admit it and put a good face on it. Nobody looked really happy there. We actually booked for a week. After 2 days we were fed up and left. (1) The drink selection was ridiculous. Nothing was fresh. The beer tasted bland, the wine was horrible and cheap. (2) The entire property was old and run down. It gave the impression that something had been built with EU money at some point and that it had been left to fall into disrepair ever since. It's like trying to cash in as long as you can. (3) The fitness room was an imposition. No disinfectant, contaminated and broken devices. We almost hurt ourselves because some parts were already so rusty. (4) Most of the things in our room were broken. Here's a brief overview of the bathroom, just as an example: Broken tiles, exposed pipes, crawling ants on the floor, unclean water, no functioning ventilation. (5) The room service stole money from us that was on the table. She wasn't supposed to go into the room because we had a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. When we reported it to the reception, they said succinctly that the cleaner probably thought it was a tip. (6) We rent bikes. These were so worn out that you could push through the rusted spokes with your thumb. The rest of the bikes were no better. I'm sure that the management will respond and appease this review. But there is nothing nice to talk about here. The entire complex would simply have to be demolished and rebuilt.
The staff was friendly and willing to help, but incompetent. The food was varied.

GermanyThe room has not been all that clean - i.e. floors. I have found two cockroaches during my 7-day stay. The room smelt very musty with or without the AC on. I doubt any facility can call itself 4-star if guests have to collect soiled toilet paper in bins instead of flushing them down the toilet. The food was tasteless. They make school-kitchen food from relatively descent materials. The fruit was unripe most of the time. ALSO my room, 1167 was one door down from a HUGE generator or AC unit - it was about the size of one bunaglow, and it made constant noise. Although it was a monotonous noise, I doubt it is good for anybody's hearing to be exposed to such noise for several days.
The staff was extremely friendly and responsive for the most part. The only issue I had is that I could not get the cleaning lady to clean in the morning so she kept waking us up during the after lunch nap.

EstoniaThis property is out of town, so there is nowhere to walk outside the hotel property. There was a very strong smell of mold beside or under our double bed. We only stayed for two nights, but it was very disturbing (do not know if this was a problem in only our room). There were many pools, but all of them were accessible by ladder (except one small childrens pool).
Very nice garden with lots of trees and flowers, nice seaview. We loved the terrace of the main restaurant, it seemed newly renovated and had a nice view. You could get freshly made pizza and creppes for a snack. Buffee selection was very good, but unfortunately some of the food was lacking flavour. Hotel staff was friendly.

United KingdomThere was sistematically no available beach bed anywhere (neither on the beach nor by the pools) after 9:30-10 am, as people were living their beach towels on the beach bed to keep the space, something that should not be done according to the hotel policy, but frankly the hotel was not enforcing the policy. The resort was at its full capacity when we were there and it really feels like it tries to accommodate more people than what it can really manage. The food was okay but very little greek food per se, the problem is that the things are pretty much the same every day, there is no real variety and after a few days you get tired of it. The greek salad was tasteless to me, and the best thing was probably the pasta (but if you are italian and you go to Greece on vacation you really don't want to have to eat pasta there). Often the food was dirty (for example I would find milk drops in the cereal bowl from which everybody gets cereals for breakfast), evidence that the level of education and respect for others of the average person that comes to this village is quite low. The rooms were incredibly small, the pictures on the hotel website are so misleading! The wardrobe smelled of sweat from the previous occupants so we could not use it at all. The beds are uncomfortable and so are the pillows (they can be very low or very high). The cleaning ladies are quite lazy (some days they did not come, some others they came and left half of the mattress uncovered by the bed sheet, and we had to go to reception and complain). The bars serve very bad drinks, everything tastes of chlorine. There are no snacks or food at the bars. The beach is overall okay but once again the pictures on the website are misleading. The private beach is full of rocks, so it can be difficult to enter in the water. This resort is not cheap at all , and it's definitely not a 4 star. For me it was a 2 star resort which you pay for the price of a 4 star, so not worth it at all.
The sea is very clean and you can easily see lots of fish if you go snorkeling. The swimming pools were nice. Some (but not all) the staff at reception were kind and helpful. The food at the two restaurants (Beach Thalasso and La Pergola) was very good, but you can only visit each Restaurant once in a week, which you are not informed about when you book the resort, and you only discover it once you are there. The sunset is truly spectacular.

RomaniaThe cleaning in the room was not done well. In the 9 nights we stayed, the toilet bowl was never cleaned. The room is full of ants, probably if they cleaned it better this problem wouldn't exist. The mini bar is said to be filled every 3 days, but this does not happen either. It was extremely hot in the main restaurant. Too few sunbeds on the beach and at the pool. It was quite an adventure to find a sunbed. Everyone went in the morning, put something on the sunbeds to occupy it and came on the beach around lunch. This would not happen if there were more sunbeds. For our taste, the music from the pool/bar was sometimes too loud, we would have preferred no music at all. On the last day, we requested to check out 2 hours later to be able to sleep the child in the room, for this we payed 20-25 euros. For 9 paid nights, I think they could have given us 2 extra hours for free.
The location of the hotel on the beach, that's why I chose it. We received a bungalow in a quieter area, as I requested, I appreciated it. The food is ok, but we would have liked to eat Greek food as well. The dessert at the a la carte restaurant near the beach was very good, but the food seemed like a bad joke.
