Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. PolandThe beds were a bit too hard and the bathroom was small and it would get all wet during shower. Breakfast was ok for a few days, but a bit too simple, it could have a toaster, some fresh fruits and more tea flavours.
We really liked our stay, the person received us very warm and was very helpful. It felt like staying at relatives home ;) the location is calm and close to port and restaurants. The room was cleaned every day. I liked that the room has 2 balconies and the view was amazing, and I loved the bougainvilleas.

United KingdomIt did have the classic issue of the inffectual shower-curtain which floods the bathroom floor, but not a big problem.
We had a good stay. Good quiet location. The rooms are simple but have everything you'd need. It was very clean. Very nice breakfast with a good selection. It has quite a few different outlooks, over the courtyard, views towards Chora, and out to the rear. All are pleasant and peaceful, but they do seem to have different sized balconies. It seems to be family run and all the staff we encountered were really friendly, helpful and kind. I would definitely stay there again.

Australiait wasn’t the quietest at night, but that was mostly noise outside the hotel.
very nice location, wonderful exterior. the staff were the highlight, sending a car for me when i arrived (without me even asking) and graciously allowing me to leave my bags for the day, as my ferry didn’t leave until 12am. the room was comfortable and clean, and there was a little balcony included that was charming. it was so hot when I stayed but I maybe saw 1-2 mosquitos the whole time.

GermanyHotel Effie is very good situated near to the beach and to the town. From our great balcony we had a great view to the castle and to the Sea. The room was very clean and the Breakfast was very delicious. A short distance walk goes to the Meloi Beach a very quiet and fantastic beach in a corniche. A near pretty nice restaurant I can recommand without any doubt.

GreeceStay Away from this hotel. The behavior of the lady in the reception was rude and direspectful. I had two diferrent bookings in a row. The rooms do not follow the descriptions, be very careful. She blamed booking.com and their description for that. After i wrote my review for the first stay she called me on the phone in a very rude way, she spoke in an unprofessional and offensive way and she hang up the phone. This hotel is very old with out of date equipment (even with fire distinguishers expired), not at all sound insulation, poor breakfast. Patmos island is great, there are many other choices to stay, you will regret choosing this one, they can destroy your vacation as you will not find proper services or rest at this hotel.
