Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe booked last minute so were not able to upgrade rooms. Our fault. One of the rooms was a little quirky. It had stairs to a loft where the bed was located (again, this was the last room they had available). Not a good room for elderly due to having to climb up and down narrow stairs to get to the bathroom. It was also hot in the loft.
The staff was exceptional. Maria was on top of everything - probably the best host/manager I have encountered to date. The hotel is in a walking area where vehicles are not allowed. There is a garage a few hundred meters before you reach the hotel. Maria had someone meet us at the street to take our luggage. Once we were in our room Maria arrived with welcome drinks. We had a view of the church and a beautiful Jakaranda tree. If you are planning something for the day that you check out, they will arrange for locked storage of your luggage. If you are looking for something that is within walking distance of the Plaka, Monateraki and Acropolis then this is perfect!

United StatesI can't think of anything.
Our taxi from the airport dropped us within a short walk down the busy pedestrian corridor in front of the hotel, and we easily found the big wooden entrance door marked 27, with the magic key ready for us to enter, it added a bit of intrigue! They were very helpful in stowing our overnight bags until the room was ready (we were early), and kept us updated. We were both travel weary, my daughter with a semi-sprained ankle, and me with a strained back, so we loved the big, comfortable king bed, and short distance to the Ancient Agora entrance. And the view of the Acropolis from our room was unbelievable, and since my daughter knew she wouldn't be able to climb to the Acropolis during our short stay, she felt satisfied with fully experiencing it throughout our time in the room, lit up at night, sunlit at sunrise. The room service is amazing, we were brought wine, snacks and ice, and extra nespresso pods within minutes of requesting. And they recommended a restaurant we were so happy with, one of our highlight meals, and we are fussy about authentic quality meals. We had not planned this part of our trip, but when we realized our flight layover was in Athens, we couldn't resist, so on short notice set up this overnight stay in Athens, and it was so worth it. We used a luggage storage service (safe/fast!) at the airport, and just carried in overnight packs, and were able to visit the Agora in the afternoon, taxi'd up to the Archeology Museum before dinner, came back and strolled the neighborhood to the restaurant, visited a rooftop bar for afterdinner cocktails, had good night sleep, then I went back to the Agora in the early morning, had it all to myself, then made the pilgrimage up to the Acropolis, before collecting my baggage using the train (easy walking distance) to the airport. If we'd stayed longer we would enjoyed shopping in the many high-quality stores in the neighborhood. Next time!

IsraelThe Emporikon's location is truly unbeatable. Here's why it shines: Heart of Athens: Situated on Aiolou Street in Agia Irini Square, the hotel puts you right in the center of Athens' historic Plaka neighborhood. Walking Distance to Landmarks: Step out the front door and turn right, and you'll be gazing upon the Acropolis and Parthenon! Many other iconic sights are just a short stroll away, including the Syntagma Square parliament building (400 meters), the National Archaeological Museum (1.5 km), and the Acropolis Museum (800 meters). Convenient Transportation: If you don't feel like walking, the Monastiraki metro station is a convenient 200 meters from the hotel. On top of this fantastic location, the staff is amazing and handling everything you need. That combination of a stellar location and exceptional service sounds like a recipe for a fantastic stay!

United KingdomA bit noisy, with bars beneath you, but we were sleepy enough anyway so didn't keep us awake
right in the middle of things, with restaurants, cafes and bars all around (and beneath) you. Easy to get to all the major sights on foot, and very close to the Acropolis and museums, as well as shops.

IsraelThe hotel is right next to a church and the church bells sound very early in the morning. The room has a lot of windows (we were in the suit with the Acropolis view) and the curtains don't fully cover the morning light. Also, there was only one bar of soap and 2 small bottles of shampoo in the room. I expected to find more basic amenities such as conditioner and liquid soap.
Excellent location, right in the middle of the tourist area. A lot of restaurants and bars nearby. Staff was excellent, very friendly and communication was immediate. The room was spacious with a modern design.

AustraliaIt is a busy area that might not suit everyone. The church bells went off at 7.12am each day, which was a surprise the first day but then became part of the character. Really nothing to complain about at all!!
This is a little boutique hotel in the centre of Athens. It’s in a busy spot within walking distance to everything. The family room for 2 adults and 2 kids was cosy but comfortable. We could see the acropolis by sticking our heads out the window! Despite the noisy area, our room was quiet. The staff were amazing- friendly, responsive, had lots of suggestions, lovely to the kids. We loved staying at this place, it felt like we were truly staying in Athena.
