Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing, everything was fabulous.
This is a beautiful boutique hotel with only 11 rooms so it suits those who want a quiet, peaceful break. Although there is no restaurant or bar as such, breakfast is served in the delightful courtyard style garden under a magnificent avocado tree and the staff are very generous with the complimentary drinks! The rooms are super comfy and clean and the staff are amazing; very helpful and friendly. The pool is fabulous; great to cool off in and big enough to get a few lengths in too! Chania town and harbour are about a 15 minute walk away.

SwitzerlandEpavli hotel is a well located hotel inside Chania, close to all city attractions but far enough from the tourist noise. We enjoyed our stay. Our room was clean and well prepared and the breakfast was served in a beautiful garden next to the pool. It was also easy to park in front of the hotel and the staff was very polite and helpful and assisted us with the luggage and our requests.

PolandI have found that the most important factor to feel a bit of luxury is excellent hotel service. love this place, little refuge in the heart of the city under a beautiful avocado tree. Delicious breakfasts, it is very nice that we also got a take away because of the flight in the morning. After exploring the city all day, it's perfect to cool off in the pool with a glass of wine. This hotel for sure. deserves to be called boutique, I recommend this elegant gem to everyone.

FranceEveryone associated with the hotel could not have been more kind of helpful. The location was excellent, a residential neighborhood that was a short walk to local restaurants. The rooms were large, comfortable and immaculate. Breakfast in the garden each morning was a pleasure.

If you want to experience a top holiday, this is the right place. The house is located close to the centre in a neighborhood of old villas, a 15-minute walk from the port of Chania. On arrival we were greeted by the very friendly lady Judith, who showed us to our suite and immediately offered us two Aperol Spritz. Our suite was on the ground floor with an outside table. The very spacious room is designed and furnished with modern, contemporary taste. Very comfortable bed and functional furniture. Modern bathroom with everything you need. The excellent breakfast is served under two giant avocado trees by the very friendly Penny. The breakfast is rich and consists of fresh produce. Penny spoiled us throughout our stay, often offering us drinks. The pool and sunbathing area is ideal for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. Everything was so good that we never wanted to leave. We will definitely return. Thank you Penny!

United KingdomNothing apart from the AC was not the strongest but it did not really bother us.
A big Thank you to the lovely reception lady who waited us until very late due to the delay of our flight. She also shared with us the lovely story of this historic building which made us stay more interesting. A big Thank you to Julianna who was super friendly and lovely! She gave us lots of tips of restaurants and beaches even though we were about to leave to stay in another side of the island which turned up to be the best spots we have been in Crete!! The room was very modern and clean!! It’s a cozy hotel and just outside of the touristic old town so you can really enjoy the peace and it is still close to everywhere. We miss having our delicious breakfast under that huge avocado tree!

United KingdomCushion for the chairs on the terrace upstairs would make them comfortable enough to be able to sit and read for a while. I’m being picky here but single use butter and jam condiments. Such a waste of plastic. A small portion into small porcelain bowls taken from a larger jar would be a better environmental option. These are both small things the hotel was wonderful.
Breakfast was ideal, great choice of food. Lovely setting for breakfast and around pool area. Location is good, quieter away from the main centre but still an easy walk to get to the town centre

Greece-
The property is an absolute gem in Chania. Location is perfect because you can be down town within 10 minutes walk as it is very difficult to find parking in the old town. Its also at the exits to airport or sea side so you can easily move without hitting traffic. Its located near a supermarket and food places for anything you need. Above all is very quiet and relaxing. The pool is cool and clean and you can rest by the shades of a beautiful avocado tree. The rooms are perfect, very clean and comfy and breakfast is absolutely delicious. Highly recommend as its also perfect value for money!

United KingdomI stayed at the hotel with my boyfriend and we were very impressed with it! It is situated 15 minutes away from the bus station (walking) and is easy to get to. The room we stayed in was very clean and the staff provided fresh towels, slippers and robes on a daily basis. There is also a swimming pool and garden where you can relax in during the stay. Chania is close by and has a lot to offer i.e. the old town, bars, restaurants, Venetian harbour etc. What we loved most about the hotel was the service provided by the staff, in particular Penny, who made us feel most welcome. Penny gave recommendations of restaurants for us to visit and we were not disappointed. We would highly recommend Epavli Hotel and would definitely stay there again.
