The buffet breakfast was generous, varied and delicious. The pool was an unexpected and welcome pleasure after a hot day exploring Rethymno. The staff were unfailingly helpful, the hotel was pretty and comfortable and is well placed on the fringes of the old town: all this for a very reasonable price.

This is a great small and friendly hotel. The location is perfect for exploring the town. Not on the sea front but just a short walk.

The room this time needed some improvement. The shower was situated at the tap end in the bath, however the screen was at the other end!!. This meant you needed to hold the shower head to have a shower, would have expected better. The airconditioning unit was extremely poor . The hotel requested you not to go below 23Deg C, however in the high heat this is not acceptable, you need to be down at 19deg C. Tried turning air con down however ineffective so had poor nights sleep.

This our 4th visit to the Fortezza and as previously we were welcomed by fantastic staff. Hotel is perfectly situated within the old town, handy for the nearby fantastic restaurants.

The room we had faced the road and was noisy at times in the early hours with inconsiderate people talking loudly as they walked by, and loud music from cars. I would choose a pool view next time. Tea and coffee making facilities would have been nice.

The location is perfect on the edge of the old town. All the staff were cheerful and friendly and responded to requests swiftly. The beds are comfortable, and the air conditioning is quiet and efficient. They even provided a breakfast bag for an early start to the airport.

Breakfast staff were grumpy. Orange juice was really sweet orange cordial horrible. But overall the breakfast was nice. The balconies has no divider so when someone is smoking it blows straight into other rooms. No facility in your room to make tea or coffee.

Location is excellent 👌 bed is really comfy. Reception Staff very friendly. I would stay again. Supermarket across the road. Parking very close for 10 Euro a day.

Bathroom tiny. Taps in the wrong place on the side of the bath so kept getting bruises on my thighs every time I had a shower! A shower would have been better for the size of the bathroom. No working extractor fan so very hot in there with the door shut. No light over the dressing table.

Comfy bed, big balcony with view over the pool, mini fridge, air con, nice pool, quiet. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Everything was perfect. The city of Rethymnon is a great place to spend a week or so and this hotel is ideally placed. Handy car park opposite too

Not the hotel's fault but we happened to have 3 ladies as immediate neighbours and they spent hours in the late evening drinking on the balcony and talking very loudly - the later it got the louder they talked. As I say, not the hotel's problem .

We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The position is excellent , the staff were professional and friendly and the room was comfortable. Breakfast was good .

The air conditioning was in the bedrooms only and switched on only when you were in the room. It was not strong.

The location was great, close to the old town and excellent restaurants. The staff were extremely helpful with any problem. The pool was fabulous.
