I had a great one-night stay during my layover before catching the ferry. The room was spacious with lockers and balcony. The showers were hot and relaxing. The owner was incredibly helpful and recommended a fantastic local taverna called Siga Siga, where I enjoyed a delicious meal.

Lovely lady at reception. Older building with plenty of charm. Great location close to Port and old Town. Has a kitchen (with free coffee) and a rooftop terrace. Bunks have a charging point but no privacy curtain. Locker provided.

The owner is very nice and met me for a late check in. It’s a family run business (I think), assuming they live nearby. I liked the building very much, as well as the tiled floors and the rooftop area.

The location of the hostel was perfect, and my host could not do enough to assiat me with my onward travels to Santorini. The building is very old, and there was a kind of mystique about the place. The kitchen, toilets and shower rooms were always spotlessly clean, and the air-conditionong kept the place cool at all times. I would come here again at the drop of a hat. X

The room had no lock so anyone could walk in The office downstairs controlled the AC so had to ask to lower the temperature The “kitchen” wasn’t a kitchen and was outside the rooms so the smells filled into the room

The bunk bed doesn't have a railing so if you're worried about tossing and turning during the night, I recommend choosing the bottom bed. (Although, I stayed on the upper bed and I was fine.)

I stayed in the girls only room for a week and it was tidy, spacious and quiet during my stay. The kitchen was easy to use with basic ingrediences (salt, pepper, sugar, oil etc.) prepared for common use, which was very helpful as a traveller. I was surprised at how clean the hostel was kept, since most toilets I found in Crete had much worse odor. The hostel also has a wonderful rooftop where you could eat, read, sunbath etc.

Toilet water pooling on the floor, lack of free tea coffee, towels, shower gel, shampoo or water refills (the same mostly all over Greece), air conditioning between 9 and 7am only when I was there (week 2 of June). Wifi at times spotty.

A grand marble staircase, high ceilings, vivid colours and old world GDR-style filing cabinets for valuables give it an almost Soviet charm. Solid, no frills but genuine care by the elderly couple that run the place. Adequate kettles, fridge and facilities in every room. The owners allowed me to hang out on the terrace till my flight out of Heraklion and called me a taxi.
