Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyWhat a fairytale hotel! It’s located in the lower town of Monemvasia overlooking the ocean and the beautiful traditional buildings. Absolutely gorgeous. Everything was clean, beautiful, and historical. We hope to be back.

IsraelGreat hotel, located at the end of the village, but relatively easy to find (in a village with no transportation inside, besides foot, and easy to get lost at night). Very large and comfortable room, excellent breakfast, and warm, friendly and helping staff. Highly recommended.

United KingdomPerfect! Monemvasia is hard work to get to: long drive, awkward parking on the causeway, paths not for those unstable on their feet, and you will definitely want to hire the porter to take your suitcases (5 euro). But once you are there, it is amazing. Peaceful at all times, and once the daytime tourists have left, it's practically silent apart from the waves. Host was helpful. Breakfast was excellent. View great - even from the cheapest room. Sitting in the hotel courtyard making friends with the cats, sitting on the cafe terrace reading a book, browsing the shops and restaurants, or exploring the paths to the castle - great memories!

NetherlandsIn general, the hotel was good. If we would look at the details, the bathroom would need a renovation and the room a very deep cleaning because it smelled a bit of old air/mold.
The staff was very friendly, especially Tatiana. The location of the hotel was excellent as it was just a straight line from the entrance of the castle. The breakfast was fresh and with a satisfying variety (plus points for freshly squeezed orange juice). The view from the room was outstanding.

United StatesI would have loved a Nespresso coffee maker.
Exceeded all expectations. Such a beautiful building and lovely decor. Very reflective of the town. Extremely comfortable and so much larger than expected. Breakfast was a big bonus. Very tasty and lots of variety. We never wanted lunch after such a filling breakfast.

GreeceI didn’t like the absence of shutters or dark curtains on the doors of the room.
We liked the traditional character and atmosphere of the building. The breakfast area was beautiful as well as the food choices.

GreeceUnfortunately there was no WiFi in our room. The doorway to the room and the bathroom were easy to bump our heads on (nothing can be changed about that though, it’s an ancient building!), and the cleaners of the building across the way are loud in the morning. Again, it’s nothing the Malvasia hotel can fix, and overall they were not big problems.
Location within the walls of the city was wonderful. Our “partial sea-view triple” room up on the second level was extremely charming and the bathroom with shower was unusually nice for an older building, with a window. The beds and furnishings were very nice, and there was a mini-fridge. The breakfast area has an amazing view from the terrace and the food was good, especially the coffee and bougatsa :-)

GreeceThe cleaning lady was quite abrupt and with attitude when we were 1/2 late checking out. We were late checking out because there was no electricity and therefore no hot water. We waited until there was electricity to heat up the water for a morning shower.

Really nice hotel (the opposite of corporate): characterful rooms in a beautiful setting, the historical pedestrianised town of Monemvasia. A good buffet breakfast served in a pretty courtyard (or inside if preferred). Sea view from my balcony.

GermanyWe were confused by the location information on Booking. A reference to the office at the entrance to the village would be helpful.
Spending the night in Malvasia has a special charm. And this accommodation reinforces this impression. The breakfast is sumptuous. The location is also perfect for staying for several days. Wonderful ambience in old architecture.
