Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaI absolutely loved our stay at La Grotta!! The location was soo perfect and peaceful I wish we could have stayed longer, we loved our view of the ocean and our fantastic balcony, comfy bed with two pillows each, the bathroom was roomy and modern with a nice hot shower! The breakfast was delicious and super quick and they even gave us a a dinner discount and a free boat trip to shipwreck which was completely unexpected!! Definitely need a hire car or a scooter but there was plenty of room for parking on the street!

Great location in the north of the island, in front of the port where we take the boat to Navagio beach and Kefalonia. Nice restaurants nearby. Delicious breakfast. Staff really lovely. I loved to be there.

IrelandIt has nothing to do with a hotel, but the place itself (inspite of all the reviews I've read) is a busy small port rather than a quite small beach. The boats to Blue caves are coming and going all the day, a smell of petrol is in the air and you can see a film on the water surface, so it's hard to make yourself going swimming there. That is no problem when you have a car and can drive up to the North for 10 min and have a swim near the Windmill, where you have really nice blue clear water and a nice cave.
Honestly, I've expected a completely different standard from a 2 star hotel. So we had a nice surprise - a spacious clean modern room with a balcony and a sea view, big comfortable bed and a beautiful bathroom. Staff is very polite, welcoming and responsive, always with a smile. Plentiful breakfast to order. Free tour to Blue Caves and Shipwreck is a great bonus!

BrazilThe breakfast was not good, they make you choose among eggs/chocolate croissant/ or fruit, so you were not able to have a full breakfast as hotels normally offer.
The room was good, but as we were traveling in 3 and they only have double rooms, we were able to pay for an extra bed, which is a camp bed, really uncomfortable, but better than paying for an extra room. This is a not-so-tourist area, but in my opinion, it is much more beautiful than the main point in Zakynthos, we were able to find everything we needed nearby, like restaurants, markets and all. The hotel also offers a free boat trip to the famous Navagio beach, which is quite cool, as the trip normally costs around 30 euros per person, so it is really helpful. I would recommend to rent a car to stay at this point, because it is easier.

United KingdomThe free boat trip to blue caves and shipwreck that came with the accommodation was distastefully accepted by the boat tour company - the person was quite rude and made us feel auwkward.
Small town / village. Quiet location once daytime visitors had left. Variety of restaurants and tavernas

IrelandWhen I arrived I was met by the receptionist despite the late hour - which I appreciated- however, I stayed in a room on the ground floor for one night which wasn't the room I had paid for. It was not quite as nice and it meant I could not unpack straight away, therefore, only a small inconvenience. Apart from this, there were just a couple of minor cleanliness issues e.g. a fly or two on the wall, and mini fridge water accumulation.
The room was equipped with a mini fridge and enough shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc to last 6 nights. The housekeeper kindly changed my towels every couple of days. The room was just the right size for me and the bed was comfortable. The balcony view is superb. Looking straight out to the port of Agios Nikolaos and when you leave the hotel, the port is quite literally on the doorstep. All the staff (reception, housekeeping, and waiters) were so kind and friendly whenever we met in the corridors. I definitely recommend La Grotta.

AustraliaThe staff are warm, friendly and welcoming - we felt at home as soon as we arrived! Our room was spacious, airy, great new bathroom with a very comfortable bed. Agios Nikolaos is a very small seaside town and was absolutely perfect for us - picturesque, many restaurants to choose from, all with amazing beach/port/ocean views. We loved La Storia where the tables are almost in the sand, as well as Taverna Porto. There is a beach opposite La Grotta but we loved Madrakia beach just 200 metres easy walk away with a great taverna overlooking it. The water is crystal clear and beautiful shades of turquoise. The included trip to the Blue Caves and Shipwreck Beach was excellent.

IrelandStaff was very friendly, the breakfast was excellent and the complementary boat tour to the blue caves and shipwreck beach was great. We loved the location - it was very handy with nice restaurants and a supermarket but picturesque ad much quieter than other touristy villages, also close to Xigia beach which is beautiful. The accommodation itself was simple but had everything we needed. Great value for money!

The breakfast was excellent. The staff were exceptional. When our Booking.com taxi didn't turn up to take us back to the airport Natalia rang round and found us a local taxi which got us there justi n time before check in closed. The waiters were very efficient and worked extremely hard to serve every one promptly.

AustraliaWe were lucky enough to spend 5 x nights at La Grotta in May 2023 and it was a special trip for our family. From the very first moment we booked online, Natalia was so kind in giving us advice (to our many questions) prior to our arrival :) She helped us organise a surprise birthday lunch for my husband, including booking the restaurant and getting a cake with his name on it for us! It all went perfectly, Natalia is an absolute asset to La Grotta. The on-site restaurant is lovely too, with a delicious menu and breakfast every morning was wonderful, with lots of options for everybody. There were 5 of us travelling together, we had rooms next to each other on the top level, with adjoining balconies and a view to die for - We had so much fun and we can't wait to go back one day!

RomaniaThe rest of the hotel needs renovations. It's old and dull. The breakfast was ...ok-ish. With few choices (for example, only one kind of tea😳), but there is room for improvement.
I really liked the newly renovated rooms (without the doors and closet). Location- Right at the port with nice view. They offered a free trip to Navagio and Blue Caves, which is awesome and for us was perfect! We wake up with the sunrise every morning 😍. It smells very nice in the hotel, the rooms and the lingerie and towels also 🤩
