Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GreeceThe only thing I didn't like in the room - doors to the bathroom. 2 glass doors with a gap between. So you can't be fully isolated and do your things.
Great location for Monemvasia. From one side you live in a historical buildings very close to the castle area. From the other side you don't have to drag your luggage on the pavers. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious. Classic greek breakfast with variety of fruits, pastries and other things. Breakfast area is located on a huge terrace with amazing view on sea, mountains and the fortress. Private parking - which is very important in Monemvasia. You can leave the car at the hotel and just walk till the fortress. The way takes about 10 mins. Very helpful and polite staff.

very nice property in historic buildings with a nice terrace in the center and a fruit and vegetable garden. we were even allowed to pick figs off the tree in front of our room! Bed was comfortable. 5 minutes walking from the hotel you find a „natural swimming pool“ in the sea. there is parking at the hotel. it is a 15 minute walk to Monemvasia village.

GreeceThe furniture and the facilities were quite old. A renovation would be worth.
The architecture of the buildings is traditional. Well constructed and very close to the architecture of the castle. The hotel is away 10 minutes walk from the castle entrance. The breakfast area is outside under the trees with food variety.

GreeceBreakfast was ok and has still some room for improvement. For example, some hot dishes were a bit cold. Also, it would be great if they could incorporate local delicasies like local handmade pies and sweets, salad from fresh vegetables etc.
The location is perfect. Easily accessible by car and in walking distance from the entrance of the castle (8-10 min). There was free parking - very important! Hotel upgraded us to a deluxe room next to the sea. 🙏We loved the rustic rocky style. Room was clean with comfortable beds and bath amenities. We also loved our terrace - perfect for your morning coffee and chilling. Staff was very helpful and kind. We suggest it for your stay in Monemvasia.

NetherlandsRooms could use a bit of maintenance even though they were well-equiped. Mrs Tina had been also very kind and helpful during our stay.
Location of the hotel isperfect, it lies just before the entrance of the castle (around 10 minutes on foot) with a personal parking spot which is necessary for public/summer holidays. Breakfast was super nice with a huge variety of local treats and products. Having breakfast outside or just chilling with a freddo espresso is most likely the top thing you can do during your stay at Lazareto, as the hotel garden and surroundings are amazing and really aesthetic.

United KingdomIf it's windy the outside dining area is uncomfortable after a while and people can't enjoy as much as they should be enjoying the lovely cuisine
We were 100% satisfied as we enjoyed our stay at Lazareto. The main purpose was to visit Monemvasia and the castle but the hotel was top class! Comfortable room with nice decor, easy parking, lovely outside areas with a unique small pool under the rock of Monemvasia. Cuisine was excellent, we had breakfast and light lunch both days. As my 8yo son said they should be a given Michellin star! Everything was lovely.

GreeceThe air condition system in the rooms is very old and noisy.
I liked the outside areas, the gardens, the bar, the breakfast area, the view. I suggest you to stay to this hotel when you go to Monemvasia because is outside the castle and you avoid the problem of the parking.
