Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing I didn't like. However note that there are rough steep stairs up to some of the rooms. Not a problem for me,. I was careful and used the banister.
Mesta Mastic was a perfect place for me as a solo woman traveler. Jenny and Anna are very kind, helping me with luggage, leaving extra treats in my room, inviting me to sit and chat in the Mesta town plaza, even doing some laundry for me as Anna knew I was traveling for several weeks. Mesta is a wonderful, historic place to be. It has day-trip visitors in the daytime, but (in late September) is very quiet at night and in the mornings. I had a car, so could drive around the south half of the island easily on small roads. Pirgi is nearby as is the Mastic Museum where I spent about 3 hours one day. I also enjoyed driving up the west side of Chios and stopping at sights and villages along the way. I'm very happy that I stayed in Mesta instead of Chios Town or the popular & busier seaside places. My room was very comfortable with a large bedroom & bath separated from the kitchen/dining/sitting area. Everything was very modern and looked new. The WiFi worked well, bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed relaxing in the cozy cushioned sitting area built into the corner of the kitchen/dining area. AC/heat is available.

SwitzerlandYou feel like you’re in the medieval era of walking through the castle. The property is so beautifully kept. We loved our stay here exactly how we wanted it to be. It’s a close walk to the restaurant and cafe and to explore the 4 towers of the castle area. Jenny was very helpful all the way through.

Super location inside the medieval picturesque stone castle of Mesta, the atmosphere is just fantastic staying in such a nice place. TurkeyRooms are so clean and beautiful. Owners are very nice and helpful people. Mesta is a castle town and the Mesta Mastic is very close to the town square. I also put a review on Google maps with a timelaps video. There was a smart tv in our room and if you are connected to the wifi of the place you can cast the things you watch in YouTube on your phone. That was actually very cool because tv is connected to the local antenna 😊 If you rent a motorcycle or car you can visit near seasides. There are natural seasides within a 10 min drive. Owners supply water daily in common kitchen and you can have them. They also gave us small snacks 🤤

GermanyNothing. Just a hint: The room on the ground floor has no windows (it's a medieval town). So if you need sunlight, this may not be the place for you.
Very nice and clean Boutique hotel right in the heart of medieval Mesta. Friendly host who will guide you to the hotel through the maze of Mesta. Nicely furnished rooms, fast and reliable wifi, comfortable beds.

I had a wonderful stay in Mesta. Staying here within the walls of the old castle felt amazing, it really was a remarkable experience in this local village. The apartment itself is very well equipped with beautiful touches to make it homely. The hosts have thought of everything and even provided little extras like some welcome snacks and drinks. Thank you so much for the stay!

GreeceWe stayed at Merovigli Apartment and I totally recommend it!! The reality exceeds pictures! When you can lie down in the cozy living room area watching the stars above you through that amazing retractable roof the room has! The super comfortable and quiet sleeping area for a great rest! The spacious, beautifully decorated and practical bathroom! Actually all of it in the apartment seems to have been done with so much care and love in detail. And very very elegant! The kitchen is also a proper one! All seemed either new or perfectly maintained! And the owners, so kind and honest hosts, ready to assist in anything we might needed but also discreet! It is supposed to be s 3 star hotel, but honestly I can number many features of it that I have encountered in 5 star hotels. And then staying for some days inside the medieval castro walls is soo charming! Really bravo and thank you!
