Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

TurkeyGreat location in the historical district. Historical charming building. But the best part was the nicest lady at the reception. She recommended the best restaurants and even made our reservations.

United StatesRoom 6 was cramped and opposite a streetlight without darkening shades. Bathroom also cramped with only a shower curtain to restrain water leading to wet floor whenever used. Note that every room is different. After room 7 emptied we checked it out, it was far nicer.
Great location. Helpful and friendly staff. Lots of charm esp stairway in central atrium. Rooftop sitting area.

TurkeyBecause of the age of the building (it is a historic district) there was a step going down to the beds (multilevel) really worried us of falling down when we get up the use the bathroom at night

United KingdomOur room was right at the top of the hotel and had the most spectacular view of the Venetian harbour. Looking out across the water from our balcony was just a joyful experience. The room - and in fact, the whole hotel, was full of character - a delightful hodgepodge of nooks and crannies filled with antiques and stories. The owner was friendly and welcoming, and coming back of an evening felt like coming home.

SwedenThe interior/roof area shared by all the rooms is awesome. And the hotel as a whole feels a bit like a cozy museum itself.

BelgiumNothing was wrong with the hotel. But it can get too noisy in the old harbour in the night - too many people who feel the need to make noise. Also, it's difficult to park in the area, but not impossible (I'm normally lucky with this).
This is a lovely hotel in the old port of Chania, with beautifully decorated rooms and great views from the front balconies. The staff are very friendly and efficient.

United KingdomWe loved everything. Accommodation right in the middle of the town. Bit of a walk with our suitcases from where we parked, but that wasn’t a problem .
It was in the old town and the building was magnificent, just beautiful. Our room had a harbour view balcony so we sat and watched the world go by. Really lovely room, very comfortable bed with a fridge and coffee making facilities. Very special place.

IrelandToo many stairs especially in rooms with mezzanine bed platform. Stairs narrow and dangerous especially at night when all lights not working. Bathrooms tiny and need up grade, grouting - drainage etc Amount of stairs should be listed on advertisements as not suitable for anyone with knee issues or big bags to lug up and down.
Staff, owner, receptionist Aria, old history of the building, location right in old city of Chania a block (1 minute) from the beach. Good breakfast included in our package. Lovely old roof terrace and really helpful staff.

United KingdomThese are minor dislikes, but as all the buildings in the old town are so old, these can't be helped. Our floor was concrete, but the above floor was wooden, so it was quite noisy when the person above us walked a few steps. Best to be on the upper floor than underneath! The room was quite dark, but we were in a very narrow street, so it couldn't be helped. Maybe better lighting. The shower temperature was difficult to manage, but it did its job. These can be overlooked over the cleanliness, location and great staff.
The hotel is in an excellent location for being in the centre of the Old Town. The staff are warm and friendly and everything is laid out well with the best view from the rooftop. For 3 night's stay as a base to visit other places, and for value for money, the hotel couldn't be faulted.

United KingdomIt was quite noisy, which is to be expected being so close to the harbour and all the cafe/bars etc. There was a kettle and 2 cups but nothing else - no tea bags/coffee etc, not sure why they provide this if there is nothing to make?! Perhaps a little expensive....compared to others in a similar location.
Location - a great location overlooking the old harbour and we had a lovely balcony with a table and chairs. Nice big, airy room with a comfortable bed and a sofa. Incredible view from the balcony.
