How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Some rooms are a bit further away from the Wi-Fi routers, so you might experience a weaker signal there. Since I travel a lot, I always bring a USB Wi-Fi antenna with me, so I don't have to worry about this problem. Other than that, I really have nothing bad to say about this famous hotel.
A wonderful hotel in a great location. Beautiful view from the balconies at the strait and the promenade, perfect for that morning coffee on a nice day. A lot of great restaurants within 5 minutes of walking distance from the hotel, and one of the best sweets shop in town is located just around the corner from the hotel entrance, and is worth a visit for those who have a sweet tooth. Very kind and helpful staff gave me the same room I stayed in previously without even having to ask, and wonderful maids that work there are keeping the rooms spotless each day, unless you request not to be disturbed. This was the third time I had stayed in New Paliria, and will definitely book a room for the forth time, when my next visit to Chalkida comes.

The bathroom was slightly old fashioned but everything was clean
very well located hotel, with rooms with a sea view at decent price. We also really liked the atmosphere, comfort and last but not least the staff was very helpful and friendly. Very clean and the beds were done every days as well as the towels changed Breakfast buffet offered a good variety of dishes and well furnished (even at a late hour)

Car Parking is offered as an option and is located near the hotel. Only downside there is a $14 euro daily charge applicable

all fine but the narrow one way streets of Chalkida were a pain to navigate

Nightmare to park, unless you pay 14euros per day for secure lockup parking close by. Breakfast was adequate but limited with same offerings every day.

no free parking
it's a nice hotel - not more than that. Near the seaside. Lots of restaurants which are open till very late. The rooms were ok. Breakfast was ok, not great.

Great seafront hotel with view of the sea from the balcony. Friendly staff who helped with recommendations on things to see and do nearby, and the room was clean and well-appointed, with plenty of space. I would recommend Hotel Paliria to others!

The breakfast was average. It was supposed to be served from 7 to 10:30, but in reality coffee and food served up to 10am. A kettle was missing from the suite.
The suite was comfortable with a great view. The hotel is in a great location.

The rooms are a bit dated but the large size made up for it

It’s a older historic building and with that comes the wear and tear of age. Breakfast was just “okay”. My door lock would fail to re-engage about 25% of the time, so I had to cycle the lock with the key card quite often to make sure it was secure. Driving is chaos in that area so I recommend getting a pin to their recommended garage first - there is really no place to pull over, check-in and orient yourself. Small things.
Location is amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful.
