Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumHowever, many boutique hotels are now in Chania and this one has some details that in relation to the price and the “boutique” name could be improved. Bed mattress and pillows aren’t really at level of boutique hotel. They aren’t very comfortable and the bedding didn’t cover well the mattress so we ended up sleeping over the mattress at times which isn’t covered by a protective sheet. There is an emergency light in the room that makes difficult to sleep as too light. There could be more toiletries and shower was not too hot or powerful. Unfortunately the building wood cracks too much and if not on the second floor it can be difficult to sleep from other noises in the rooms.
I have been to this place a few times. It is perfectly located and staff is lovely. I love the decoration and the space. We got a bottle of wine and they offer you some coffee and croissant as well for day 1 and water.

PolandGreat place to stay in Chania. The room was very nicely decorated, the bathroom was very modern. There was everything you need: balcony, comfortable bed, fridge, kettle, iron. We even got croissants, coffee and tea! The location was great, close to everything. The lady who welcomed us was extremely nice. I highly recommend this place. If I come back to Chania again, I will definitely stay in this apartment again.

United Arab EmiratesSome poor design choices, like loud bathroom extractor fan, lights that shine into the bedroom and a window shutter that grates on the sill which is hard to close and in the process wakes up the entire neighbourhood. Also this is the only place we have stayed that doesn’t provide paper tissues boxes, so either you buy your own or you resort to using toilet paper
The location is excellent. The host is very pleasant and accommodating. The rooms are spacious and so is the bathroom. The building has been recently renovated and is well kept and clean. Exterior soundproofing is very good. The A/C is powerful and very quiet. Even though it’s on the second floor, the stairs are wide and easy to navigate.

United StatesThere was a hall window above the door and a very bright exit sign inside the door of the room that made it hard to sleep without a mask. There is free parking right in front of the property if you're lucky, and you have about an inch of clearance to either side going down the street as well as railings that will block your passenger door so bravery is required. No elevator for luggage.
Room was very spacious and comfortable. Toiletries were provided and bathroom was nice. Polixeny herself was a wonderful host. Internet was good. Very close to great restaurants and attractions. Not far from airport.

United StatesOur multi-generational family of 5 booked all 4 suites for a week and it could not have been more ideal. The rooms were large, tastefully designed, and clean. The showers were modern with great water pressure (not always the case on our travels). We were surprised to discover a rooftop deck, with the nice added touch of racks and clothespins for drying clothes in the Crete sunshine. The hotel is perfectly located with shops and restaurants and the waterfront all within easy walking distance. There is a coin-operated laundry right around the corner. The place would be perfect if there was a kitchen, but there is a small fridge in each room for our purchases of the delicious local cheeses and wine. Polixeny is a kind, generous host who made us feel relaxed and happy from the moment we arrived.

HungaryThe only disadvantage is the wooden floor, which can be loud. In the first couple of days we had upper neighbours who moved around a lot during the night, and the noise was difficult to deal with, as the ceiling was cracking with each step. It comes with the characteristics of the building, but maybe some kind of insulation would help.
We loved the location, it's in the city centre, everything was in walking distance. The room was modern and comfortable. Lovely hosts, easy check-in.

United KingdomTo be honest I was pretty much happy with everything. If I had to be picky id say more regular cleaning but in reality, it wasn't "needed".
The room was great. The staff a lovely mother and son duo was super super helpful, helped carrying bags, kept asking if I needed anything extra, checked I was ok so overall I was super happy.

United KingdomThe wood flooring tends to be very loud. You can hear neighbours walking around and vice versa. However, it would be difficult to preserve the design and fix the noise.
The location is perfect. It’s still in the heart of Chania but located on a quiet street for a nice break away from the busy streets. Very nice interior design, minimal yet classy with the exposed wood and brick.

United KingdomThe only downside was the thin ceilings. We were on the first floor and the sound of the people walking around on the floor above was super super loud.

AustraliaWe couldn't work out how to start the air conditioning so we opened the double glazed windows which let the air but also the traffic noise in, until 2:30 am when it started up! Hmm. Our own fault really. It's a great place to stay but you do need those windows shut.
