Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLovely family owned hotel in a great location, set back a little from the seafront in a quiet area with good sea views and a good sized balcony that got the late afternoon/ evening sun. Nice breakfast which you can have outside on the terrace. Lovely staff and a friendly hotel dog, (but don't be put off if you don't like dogs, she only comes to see you if you ask her to!). Rooms were extremely clean. Pool wasn't yet open, but that was to be expected so early in the season (late April). Very good value.

United KingdomAll good… they were always very helpful.
The family running the hotel were so lovely. They got me extra bits from the supermarket as I am gluten free. Really nice to have the saltwater pool swim everyday. Wonderful views across the town to the sea.

Rooms are compact and typically greek, but clean and comfortable, ours had a great view over Mandraki to the sea.. The hotel is in an ideal location, with the advantage of having it's own swimming pool. Breakfast is mainly cold buffet, it was great to sit on the terrace with a coffee in the morning and watch the village go about it's daily routine. There are a number of restaurants and small supermarkets within a few minutes stroll. The staff at the Porfyris were great and a special thank you to Takis for all his help. The hotel does have some parking immediately outside, but be aware that streets in Mandraki are very narrow, if you plan to hire a car. We both agreed that the Porfyris and Nisyros were the most enjoyable/Greek parts of our island hopping trip.

IrelandThe hotel is a bit old fashioned but that adds to its charm. Our room was clean and smell fresh and air conditioner worked well. Shutters helps to make the room completely dark for a night. The swimming pool with saltwater was well maintained.

Very happy with our room and service from the staff. Lovely view from balcony to Monastery and the sea. Magnificent sunsets. Small fridge in our room functioned well, made ice and was great for keeping drinks cold. Air-conditioning cooled our room effectively. Layout of room gave us space for luggage. Local honey and homemade jams available at breakfast. Standout feature is the pool area. It's a 1970s time capsule. Lazing there I felt like Jacqui Onassis visiting dear friends. Suggest visiting Michele from Enetikon Travel at the port to book day excursions. Archeological Museum worth a visit, informative well displayed exhibits. Had several tasty meals at Taverna Issikas near the windmill. Alexandros Cafeteria serves delicious fresh local fish. Wonderful sunsets from both locations.

Met at the port and taken to the hotel even though it is not far. Quickly checked in and room was a good size with view of Mandraki and the sea as requested. Staff were all very friendly with a good choice from the continental breakfast. Swimming pool was welcome as the beaches are generally poor, while we were there sand was being spread to make a small beach lido in the town. Hotel was very clean and comfortable and would stay again if we return to Nisyros.

United KingdomNothing really. The pool area was great but some of the loungers could be upgraded and tiles requiring repaired. Lovely area to enjoy a cool Swim at the end of the day.
The hotel is situated in the centre of Mandrakion. Easily accessible to all local shops/ restaurants. Breakfast was simple but plenty bread, cheese, cold meats etc with Greek yogurt and fruits. Bedrooms were a good size and beds very comfortable.

United Kingdom1% of the population need gluten free. I contacted the hotel 2 weeks in advance to ask for gluten free breakfast option. I asked again on arrival but was told this was not possible to purchase on the island. We discovered the bio shop in the town has excellent gluten free bread. I would not have minded paying the hotel extra for gluten free but to say it is not available on the island is simply incorrect.
Lovely being met at the port. Comfortable beds. Great location.
