How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The playing ground we saw in the pictures was not functional anymore.
The location is not too far from the center. Rooms are very spacious. It is a family friendly place, with a well equipped kitchen. Parking space is a real bonus, considering the streets are narrow and crowded.

The apartment is extremely spacious, clean, comfortable, equipped with everything necessary, very nicely decorated. It was far beyond our expectations, and the price paid was below the area average. Very well positioned, you can quickly reach the center, there is a supermarket very close. The host and her mother are wonderful, when we arrived at the accommodation they welcomed us with cold fruit and water, being extremely kind. All requests were promptly answered. The city is an ideal starting point for any destination on the island, being close to the most beautiful beaches. We felt very good, we will definitely come back to this location.

The kitchen could use some more equipment- like kitchen towels, propper knife, wine glasses, etc.
The location is rather “uptown”, but very close to the buss station, so it’s perfect for people who are planing to use buss transfer while on holiday. It was very spacious, with comfy bed. The owner was very kind, helpful and welcoming.

There was nothing to dislike
The house has a nice atmosphere and is spacious enough to stay with friends. All facilities for cooking and washing clothes are available. The owner were really friendly and welcoming.

We did not notify the owner our arrival time, and we arrived at the apartment 10 minutes before check-in, which was at 15:00. We had a bit of difficulty finding it, as there's no sign at the gate and the building looked older and shabbier than in the photos. We called the owner and she informed us that the previous tenants checked out late and the cleaning lady did not show up, so our apartment would be ready at 17:30. We had been driving 4 hours and 1 hour by ship to get there. Had the owner informed us that the apartment would not be ready, we would have adjusted our schedule. She called us at 16:30 and when we entered the apartment everything looked different than in the photos. The apartment looked dated, especially the bathroom was a mess. It was smelly, the sink was chipped and glued back, the bathtub had a weird stain, there was a rusty washing machine and the toilet was not clean. It didn't look clean anyway... I don't want to mention the state of the toilet brush... The bedroom and living room where we would sleep did not have black out curtains or exterior shutters. People could see us from the outside. At night we couldn't sleep because there's a coop with hens and ducks nearby with a rooster that wouldn't stop crowing all night!!! Non stop! The garden was unkempt and full of weeds and there was a smell of manure in the air from nearby farms. The amount we paid seemed excessive for a place to sleep and we couldn't even do that. The kitchen was ok, but other owners offer basic ingredients, such as salt, pepper, coffee, sugar when offering kitchen facilities. Also we couldn't open the kitchen door to use the small patio outside the kitchen. We could use the bedroom door but it was dusty, so we chose not to go there. All in all, it wasn't good value for money and we wouldn't stay there again.
The only things we liked was that there were bedside sockets for our electronic devices and the apartment is located near the port.
