Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was absolutely nothing we did not like.
We loved absolutely everything about this place. Our host was beyond kind & friendly, catering for our every need & making us feel incredibly welcome & at home. The room was perfect and the courtyard outside was beautiful, with blossoming orange & lemon trees. It was an outstanding stay, and we would warmly recommend this place to anyone visiting Hydra!

United KingdomNothing negative to say!
From the minute we arrived, we were so well looked after by Andreas. He arranged for our luggage to be collected at the port as my partner had a knee injury, and he greeted us and warmly at Rafalias Mansion. Everything I had read in the reviews was true. This is an absolute gem of a place and Andreas cannot do enough for you... from great conversation to freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh cakes being left in the fridge as a little treat. I cannot speak highly enough of him. (We made good use of the gym as well!)

AustraliaRafalias Mansion is an oasis in Hydra. The host, Adreas, is incredibly kind and attentive to all details. The property itself is beautiful, set in a heritage building with a magnificent, tranquil garden serving as the heart of the property. The property offers privacy to its guests and is a peaceful place to retreat after a day exploring the island. The facilities are great, inclusive of a gym and washing machine facilities, along with well equipped kitchenette's in the rooms, most of which seem rare on the island. The property is in a great location, a short walk to all the main areas of interest. As mentioned by other guests, the standard of hygiene is high. The addition of the snorkelling equipment in the rooms is an added bonus!

United KingdomAll good!
As others have said, Andreas is a superb host - efficient, welcoming, and helpful. We loved his useful local suggestions and willingness for us to enjoy his historic family home. The shady, nicely planted garden is worth spending time relaxing in. Close to everything, yet peaceful. Can't fault this as a vacation stay in anyway! Snorkel and beach towel kits a big plus. Comfy bed, lovely toiletries and free bottled water and other breakfast essentials. Great attention to detail all round.

CanadaRaffalias Mansion is perfect.
Everything! Andreas truly went above and beyond. He gave us a warm welcome, invited us into his living room to tell us about his house and Hydra, then took us to our very clean flat which was stocked every day with breakfast and snack items and delicious coffee. One afternoon, he even brought us some cake. The private terrace for flat #5 was perfect and the garden heavenly. Andreas and his father have thought of everything from supplying rooms with snorkelling gear, to beach towels, bath robes, a beach bag, food and drink. The room was also cleaned each day. We loved everything! For guests who like history and gardens, this is the perfect place to relax. There is a reason why this mansion has earned such excellent reviews. We cannot imagine staying anywhere else should we return to Hydra. Thank you again, Andreas.

United StatesAndreas is an absolutely amazing host. He is available for whatever you might need, whether it be a question on a restaurant or something you need for your stay. The most amazing host, being both personable and responsive. He is proud of his home and truly cares about his guests. The room is part of the family mansion which has been an integral part of the history of Hydra. We loved enjoying a glass of wine in the lovely garden that is in the center of the complex. The location is a short walk from the port with easy access to restaurants and grocery stores. The kitchen is stocked with items for breakfast including juice, water, butter, bread and jam. It was a pleasant surprise to have beach towels and snorkeling gear available should you choose to go for a swim. The bed is very comfortable and the room was very clean. The location is great, a short walk from the port. There are restaurants and grocery stores in close proximity. Hydra is a special place, and the Rafalias Mansion adds to the magic.

GreeceNothing to mention here!
Rafalias Mansion is kind of an whole experience when visiting Hydra. Let me start with our host, Andreas, who really loves his house and wants to provide only the best experience to his guests. I don't want to say much, but sometimes, it's the little things that make your stay one to remember. Keep it up! Apart from that, the mansion is a greatly maintained classical building with a lot of history to explore, as the family has been linked with the place for decades. You'll be staying in one of the spacious rooms of the mansion with all the amenities needed available at the highest standard possible.

GreecePerhaps a sign on the outside of the building to alert guests to where it is would be helpful. A lamp in the bedroom with softer lighting for night might also be nice. But really I'm just picking the tiniest details here as this is a phenomenal place.
The kind of place where you wish you'd booked to stay for a week. Or the kind of place you wish you lived in. What an amazing place. From the beautiful garden and the jacuzzi to the comfortable bed and coffee machine, I was beyond impressed with this place. Andreas is a fantastic host and has done an incredible job restoring his family's old mansion on Hydra. I will definitely be back (and recommending it to all my friends in the meantime!)

The room and facilities were fantastic, the outdoor garden spa was refreshing and private. Condiments in the room were plentiful- bread, juice, snack bars, coffee milk and replaced as needed….amazing place. Close to promenade frontage-130mts. United KingdomNothing not to like.
The mansion was impeccably designed and cared for. The garden was a slice of paradise and the room was beautiful — it was the bedroom of the island’s former mayor and it felt like sleeping in a museum exhibit. An absolute delight! Andreas, our host, is probably one of the most incredible people you’ll ever meet. Polite, funny, energetic, always alert to making your stay even more pleasant…he’s dedicated his life to the preservation of his family’s historic mansion and to having his guests experience that beautiful place, packed with history, to the fullest. There are plenty of great holiday properties out there. But rarely do you come out of it with a new friend. We are very grateful.

GermanyThe historic estate is a truly wonderful getaway. The garden is a beautiful and calm place to chill, have breakfast or drinks. The rooms are really well equipped and have really good air conditioning which kept us cool in 32degree heat. The host Andreas is absolutely amazing. Also the accommodation is really easy to get to from the port. A lot of hotels in Hydra are higher up on the mountain and it’s difficult to get your suitcases up there. This is NOT the case here.
