How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Shower had no hot water in the morning. When I did mention it to the staff they were very apologizing and may would have solved the problem if I would have complained right away.
Great value. Central located, close to the harbor and to down town. Quiet, clean, and comfortable. Has all the basics for a good price. Breakfast is not wow but for 4 Euro a bargain.

It doesn't have a private parking. We didn't have a lot of privacy in our room balcony because it faced another apartment. Our room was next to the bathroom shared by the other rooms of the floor, and that made it noisy at night. The double bed was actually two single beds stuck together, not very comfortable when you're in the middle of it. TV could be a smart TV to allow users to watch their own stuff on TV.
Very well located, at walking distance from everything in Heraklion downtown (Lion square, Eleftherias square, etc). Many restaurants around the hotel. Very friendly staff that helped us find good restaurants and a place to do laundry nearby. We were able to leave our luggage for the day to compensate lack of early check in and late check out. Our room had air conditioner, a small fridge, a small balcony and a TV.

My room was near the entrance (reception), so when people came back late at night, I heard their talk and a bit loud voice around the reception, but it was not every night, so not too bad.
The room was very clean and very efficiently organised. Staff were very kind and greatly helped my activities in Heraklion. The location is very close to the sea. I love walking along the sea, so it was great for me. I saw beautiful sunset everyday just near the hotel. The area is rather quiet, compared to the centre of the town, yet it is very easy to access most of the sightseeing places. I liked this quiet environment very much.

The people that worked there were lovely and helpful. The location was superb. It was within walking distance of Ocean and Square. It is a small, simple hotel. Not all the amenities but perfect if you are on a budget and want to be close to the action.

Breakfast was laughable - just an egg, some yoghurt and some bread. The room is very small, but you won't spend much time there, so it really doesn't matter.
Super friendly staff, clean, great location. For that price, it's hard to find something better.

The room was in the ground floor, which I personally don't like. There were small stains on the white walls and sheets, but nothing much.
The staff was extremely friendly, they let us stay little after our check-out time. They promptly gave us what we asked them to. The shower was very nice and new.

The staff was very nice nad accomodating. The facility has lockers where you can leave your luggage before check-in or after check-out which is great! Also, there was a fridge in the room. The location was very good

The room is a bit small.
The staff was very nice and did their very best to help us. They recommended some nice restaurants as well as where to take a COVID-19 test (required for the ferry). They also printed out our documents for us. Nice shower.

The hotel is ideally situated in Heraklion: we could reach everything by foot. But as we were doing a road trip after that, finding a place to park our car was not easy at all and the streets around the hotel are quite narrow. Hopefully, the hotel has an arrangement with a nearby private parking lot: it is a good solution if you do not want to venture to look for a parking place in the street.
The hosts are exceptionnally kind and helpful: our luggage was lost by the airway company we travelled with, but we did not have to go back to the airport or to wait for it to arrive, the hosts managed to pick up our suitcase for us. The room was spacious and clean and we were given lots of good advices in order to make the most of our stay in Heraklion.

The bathroom wasnt completely clean and the shower was leaking a bit to the floor of the bathroom.
